Spider-Man: Far From Home was the 23rd film in the MCU. The plot saw Peter Parker getting recruited by Nick Fury and Mysterio to battle the Elementals while on a school trip to Europe. It turned out that neither Fury nor Mysterio were who they appeared to be. The movie grossed $1.1 billion globally, making it the first-ever Spider-Man film to gross more than a billion dollars.

Like many other Marvel movies, Spider-Man: Far From Home was well-received by critics. It has an impressive score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. A third and final Spider-Man solo film is also said to be in development. Meanwhile here are a couple of Spider-Man: Far From Home behind-the-scenes stories about the cast.

The Actors Were Only Given Portions Of The Script

Roger and Julius land in Venice in Spider-Man: Far From Home

Unlike other films where the cast can go through the whole booklet/document, The cast of Spiderman: Far From Home was only allowed to read sections of the script that were relevant to their characters. This was done to prevent spoilers for Avengers: Endgame since Spiderman: Far From Home contained plenty of spoilers such as the death of Iron Man.

Given that the two movies were filmed at the same time and came out months apart, this was totally understandable. Zendaya stated that the cast members were given only half the script. She and her colleagues thus had no idea what the movie's full plot was about until it came out.

Tom Holland Took Home Those Cool Tony Stark Shades

Peter Parker holds the glasses Tony Stark gave him in Spider-Man.

During an interview with Cinemablend, Tom Holland admitted that he liked to sneak away with a number of movie props. This is easy for him since his character gets to touch so many things in the films.

One thing he managed to sneak away with was Tony Stark's tech sunglasses. Holland wore the modified sunglasses for a huge part of the film and really got to like them. After production was wrapped up, no one asked for them so he took them home. Hopefully, Marvel won't ask him to give them back.

Jake Gyllenhaal And Tom Holland Had To Do 40 Takes For One Specific Scene

Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio in Spider-Man Far From Home

Despite  Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal having appeared in numerous films, they are still not guaranteed to nail a scene in three or less takes. The scene where Peter Parker and Quentin Beck formally introduce themselves to the other had to be repeated 40 times because the actors kept laughing.

According to Gyllenhaal, the introduction was such a funny moment for them. And they still didn't manage to nail it well. The final cut happens to be just about a second in duration because that was the only good footage that could be gotten out of it. Hopefully, they were more focused on other scenes.

Zendaya Was Worried About Tom

Safety precautions are always adhered to on any film set and there can be no doubt that a giant studio like Marvel doesn't take that for granted. Just like how MJ cares for Peter Parker, Zendaya wasn't totally convinced that Tom Holland was safe. She feared that he could get choked in the Spider-Man costume which appeared to be too airtight.

Apparently, the costume used during filming was one-piece, unlike the one with a removable head that appears in the actual film. Zendaya figured Tom wouldn't be able to get some air in case he needed it. But the costume wasn't as airtight as she thought. Holland could actually breathe very easily. It's nice to mind the welfare of your colleagues though.

Tom Holland Had No Idea J.K. Simons Would Be In The Movie

J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man Far From Home

Marvel's mid-credit or end credit scenes are something to be expected but some still end up being shocking. Such was the case when  J.K. Simmons reprised his role as Daily Bugle's Ediot0r-In-Chief Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: Far From Home's mid-credit scene.

Fans were shocked to see him and so was Tom Holland. Apparently, only the director and a few top executives knew about it. Perhaps the information was kept a secret so as to provide the shock factor that it did. Perhaps Spidey should try to snoop around on his own in the future and discover these well-kept secrets.

Zendaya Wore A Shirt With Her Own Picture

The white shirt that Peter Parker's love interest MJ (Zendaya) is wearing as she and the superhero swing through New York appears to have a black and white picture with a familiar face. It's actually Zendaya at the 2018 Met Gala.

Zendaya was among the best dressed female celebrities at the 2018 Met Gala when she showed up wearing a silver gown that was covered in beads. The dress had a long-sleeved silhouette and pooled behind her feet. The outfit is similar to that said to have been constantly worn in medieval times by the historical figure Joan of Arc.

Spiderman: Close To Home?

Tom Holland in Spider-Man Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home was mostly filmed in Hertfordshire and London. In contrast, Spiderman: Homecoming was filmed in Atlanta. Tom Holland was born in Kingston upon Thames, London. He has lived in the UK for most of his life. It wasn't until 2014 that he moved to Hollywood.

This means that Holland was actually closer to home than far from it, compared to when he was filming the first movie. He probably even took his fellow crew members to see his childhood home. Time to switch titles perhaps?

E.D.I.T.H. Was Voiced By A Film Editor

The sunglasses that Tony gave Peter had an augmented reality security system known as E.D.I.T.H. (Even Dead, I'm The Hero). The system which had the ability to speak gave both Tony and Peter access to Stark Industries' global satellite network along with weapons and drones.

E.D.I.T.H. was voiced by Dawn Michelle King, who acted as the first assistant editor on both Spider-Man films in the MCU. Dawn Michelle King also worked with the other MCU veteran Jon Favreau on the film Cowboys & Aliens.

Tom Holland Wanted Jason Momoa To Play Kraven The Hunter

Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Atlantis' Council of Kings

It was rumored that Kraven The Hunter would be introduced later in the film as the villain for the next movie but that didn't happen. Apparently, Tom Holland even vouched for Jason Momoa to play the villain.

Kraven was introduced in 1964's  The Amazing Spider-Man #15, by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. He was a Soviet bounty hunter named Sergei Kravinoff who viewed Spider-Man as the biggest and most important target. Could Momoa appear in both a DC and Marvel film? Well, James Gunn is directing both a DC film and a Marvel film. Who knows?

A Familiar Jake Gyllenhaal Scene

At around the 1 hour and 55 min mark, Peter Parker lands on the ground after swinging to meet his love interest MJ for their date. They happen to be near a library that's quite familiar. It seems the production team made sure the library had a connection to one of the main cast members. Or was it purely coincidental?

This is the same library where Jake Gyllenhaal's character Sam Hall waits for his father in the 2004 sc-fi film The Day After Tomorrow. Sam was a high school student who got trapped after a massive storm hit the city. He soon found himself on an impossible mission to save his girlfriend.
