Marvel Cinematic Universe fan art imagines Stranger Things actor Caleb McLaughlin as the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man. The Marvel hero has experienced a resurgence in recent years, thanks to Tom Holland's portrayal of Peter Parker in the MCU and the award-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The latter movie has been praised as one of the best superhero films of all time, thanks to its inventive use of animation and strong storytelling. It also introduced many new audiences to Miles Morales, an Afro-Latino teenager who eventually becomes known as Spider-Man.

Considering the popularity of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, it makes sense Sony is already at work on a sequel, currently known as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, which began production earlier this month. However, as the movie isn't coming out until October 2022, much of it is a mystery at this point. Producer Phil Lord previously teased the introduction of Japanese Spider-Man, who would fit right in alongside Spider-Gwen, Peter B. Parker, and other Spider-characters seen in the film series. Rodney Rothman, who co-directed the first movie, has also teased that Doc Ock could be the franchise's main villain, which may play a role in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2.

In the meantime, fans have been clamoring for a live-action appearance by Miles Morales, preferably in the MCU. Artist ApexForm gave them an idea of what that might look like earlier this week, imagining McLaughlin as Miles in a scene from Spider-Man: Far From Home. This is appropriate, considering a Spider-Man: Homecoming deleted scene mentions Aaron Davis' nephew is named Miles, which was a clear reference to Morales. Though the character didn't wind up appearing in Spider-Man: Far From Home, this art shows what it might have looked like:

It also makes a pretty good argument for Miles Morales making the jump to live-action, as he fits right in to the MCU. McLaughlin (who plays Lucas Sinclair in Stranger Things) is a great candidate to take on the role and is even in the right age range to believably play the teenager. For his part, Shameik Moore, who voices Miles in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, previously expressed interest in playing him in live-action, but recently admitted he'll probably be too old by the time something happens.

With how beloved Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Miles Morales are, it seems likely he'll appear in live-action sooner rather than later. However, it will be interesting to see if that's via a supporting role initially or a standalone film. It's bound to be a competitive role, but Caleb McLaughlin could be a solid pick for the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man.
