As Marvel Comics prepares to launch Spider-Man into a new era of comic storytelling spearheaded by some of the most talented writers and artists in the business, the friendly neighborhood superhero will team up with his old ally/clone Ben Reilly.

Following Nick Spencer's current run of Amazing Spider-Man, October's The Amazing Spider-Man #75 will bring with it an entirely new creative team in the form of writers Zeb Wells (Spider-Man's Tangled Web), Kelly Thompson (The Amazing Spider-Man Full Circle), Saladin Ahmed and Cody Ziglar (Miles Morales: Spider-Man) as well as current Spider-Man penciler/ cover artist Patrick Gleason. A milestone issue in the Spider-Man pantheon, this next Beyond era will see Spider-Man on a new adventure alongside his own clone Ben Reilly a.k.a. the Scarlet Spider, However, before Ben can take up the mantle from his predecessor, Reilly will need to help Parker contend with a dangerous group of cosmic-based supervillains.

Details surrounding The Amazing Spider-Man's monumental issue #75 have begun to slowly trickle out this summer, but a major component has been missing in the way of a cover from the issue. Marvel has now released the long-awaited cover of Amazing Spider-Man #75, which showcases the web-slinging duo of Peter Parker and Ben facing off against villains the U-Foes. The U-Foes were once a quartet of egocentric scientists exposed to cosmic radiation in an attempt to replicate the powers of the Fantastic Four. Primarily antagonists of the Incredible Hulk, the U-Foes recently made a memorable guest appearance in the critically acclaimed The Immortal Hulk by writer Al Ewing (Defenders) and artist Joe Bennett (Captain America). The wraparound cover itself is drawn by regular Marvel artist Arthur Adams (Web of Spider-Man), who will be providing his creative pedigree on several upcoming covers of The Amazing Spider-Man.

Even before the cover art of issue #75 was revealed, Marvel Comics began to build up hype among dedicated fans with the amount of talent amassed for this next era of Spider-Man. While the outcome of the Spider-Men's encounter with the U-Foes remains undetermined, the cover for the following issue does not bode well for Spidey. Amazing Spider-Man #76 sees a bloody and incapacitated Spider-Man lying in a hospital bed with his loving wife Mary Jane Watson at his side. Adding even more fuel to the fire is the cover for Kelly Thompson and Sarah Pichelli (Fantastic Four)'s Amazing Spider-Man #77 showcasing the Scarlet Spider in a battle against an opponent bearing a metallic arm, which could belong to nearly any one of Spider-Man's massive rogues' gallery of supervillains.

It was assumed that Marvel may have been keeping the cover art to issue #75 particularly close to the vest in an effort to prevent spoilers from reaching readers. Aside from Marvel's ominous press release, the cover itself remains light on major details regarding the involvement of Ben Reilly, the future of The Amazing Spider-Man and beyond. Marvel's Amazing Spider-Man #75 will be released on October 6th, 2021.
