Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson trade roles in Spider-Man and Batman fan art. The former currently plays Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making his debut in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. Since then, Holland has headlined two Spider-Man solo movies and appeared in a pair of Avengers films. Pattinson is starring in The Batman as the latest iteration of Bruce Wayne, with the film set to premiere in October 2021. The Batman is in the midst of production after having multiple setbacks due to COVID-19.

As Holland and Pattinson leave their mark in comic book adaptations, they're also looking to display their respective acting ranges by taking on other projects in between blockbusters. The two saw their paths cross in Netflix's The Devil All the Time, for which they both earned positive reviews for their performances. Seeing Holland and Pattinson onscreen together brought their superhero roles to mind, and one fan is envisioning a "what if?" scenario where they trade places.

On Instagram, artist Mohammed Hibban shared illustrations of Pattinson as the MCU's Spider-Man and Holland as The Batman's Bruce Wayne. You can check out the pictures in the space below:

As evidenced by his roles in The Devil All the Time and Cherry, Holland is working hard to expand his horizons beyond the youthful enthusiasm he brings to his Spider-Man performances. That said, he's arguably a much better fit for Spider-Man than Batman, particularly because of that boyish charm. This isn't to say he definitely couldn't play Batman if he was cast (viewers have doubted plenty of Batman actors before), but due to his young age, it may be difficult for him to do so convincingly right now. Pattinson as Spider-Man presents the opposite problem, since he's too old to realistically portray Peter Parker in high school. However, due to his impressive range, Pattinson might read as a solid choice for an older, more veteran Spider-Man who's been on the job for years. Either way, this fan art is more of a fun exercise than anything else, making it amusing to look at.

Ideally, both Holland and Pattinson will be staying in their actual superhero roles for the foreseeable future. Holland has a third solo Spider-Man movie on the way, plus another appearance in a crossover MCU film. And though The Batman doesn't officially have any sequels lined up at this time, it's definitely the idea Pattinson will play the character for at least a few installments, rounding out a trilogy in his corner of the DC cinematic multiverse. Audiences already love Holland as Spider-Man, and people seem to have responded positively to Pattinson in The Batman trailer, so the actors appear set for the next few years.
