WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Spider-Man: No Way Home

Andrew Garfield has shared that Tom Holland, who portrays the MCU’s Peter Parker, was jealous of his Spider-Man suit while shooting Spider-Man: No Way Home. The latest instalment in the MCU’s Spider-Man series has been smashing box office records and Spider-Man: No Way Home is the most financially successful film of Marvel’s Phase 4, bringing in over double the total box office of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film has also impressed critics, while many fans have described it as one of the MCU’s best, as well as the best Spider-Man film to date.

Spider-Man: No Way Home saw the much anticipated return of Garfield and Tobey Maguire as their different versions of Peter Parker, brought to the same universe by a miscast spell from Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange. The two actors portrayed the web-slinger in earlier, non-MCU Spider-Man film series, with Maguire’s trilogy holding a particularly special place in fans’ hearts. Other actors to return to the series included Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, and Willem Dafoe’s Norman Osborn / Green Goblin. Spider-Man: No Way Home sees Holland’s Spider-Man battle through loss to help the villains, before returning them to their own universes along with the other Spider-Men who help and advise him along the way.

Now, in an interview with Variety, Garfield has stated that Holland was jealous of his Spider-Man’s suit. The actor was reflecting on the experience of filming with Holland and Maguire, and discussed one of the many differences between their versions of the character. Garfield shared that Holland’s jealousy was due to Garfield's suit allowing him to use his phone, due to zippers which allowed for him to remove his hands easily. Holland, on the other hand, had to use his nose to access his phone. Check out the actor’s full comments below:

"Tom was jealous because I have little zippers in my suit that I can get my hands out of very easily. To work his phone, he had to use his nose because he couldn’t access his hands."

Garfield’s comments will delight fans who are eager to learn every detail about interactions between the Spider-Men, and the differences between them. Holland’s own Spider-Man suit has been a subject of a lot of discussion, and a bit of controversy, among fans of the superhero. Fans have been split on whether or not his Iron-Spider suit, which was built for him by Tony Stark in previous films, is too high-tech and not in line with the character’s comic book history. However, as Spider-Man: No Way Home concludes, Holland’s Spidey creates his own suit, bringing the character back to basics and more in line with Garfield and Maguire’s versions.

With Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland’s trilogy is completed with a satisfying arc, but fans will still have plenty of questions. Whether or not Holland will return for another trilogy - or how he will fit into future MCU releases - remains ambiguous. Nevertheless, until more films are confirmed or not, fans still have plenty of Spider-Man films to revisit including Spider-Man: No Way Home
