Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse looks set to build and expand on the already ambitious first film, which is actually great news for Miles Morales' possible MCU future. With the success of the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, a sequel was inevitable. The sequel looks set to be much larger than the original, taking Miles Morales across all corners of the Spider-Verse.

A live-action Miles Morales film seems inevitable, but with the success of Tom Holland's Peter Parker, a Miles solo film could still be some time away. Sony's Spider-Verse means that it isn't as bad as it could be. Even though Miles isn't the sole character in Into the Spider-Verse, he is the main character. This means that while these films are being made, Miles is still front and center in a big Spider-Man franchise, live-action or otherwise. This allows Marvel not to rush into putting Miles Morales into the MCU while Tom Holland is still at the height of his popularity.

There is a possibility that when Sony decides to make a live-action Miles Morales film, they will include it in the same universe as Venom and keep it separate from the MCU. With the success that Spider-Man has had in the MCU, this is unlikely. Once the Spider-Verse trilogy has concluded, that would be the prime time to start thinking about how to introduce Miles into the MCU. While both studios should be planning for Miles' future, Marvel and Sony should wait before going into a Miles solo film. The main reason for this is that Tom Holland's Spider-Man is still too young.

One of the positives about Holland is that he was cast young for his incarnation to go on for years, but this means that Miles' Spider-Man could still be a bit away. One of the best things about Miles and Peter is the difference in their experience. Making Peter older and Miles younger only helps this. If Peter is a similar age to Miles when he starts life as Spider-Man, the two could come across as too similar. Holding off on Miles for a little while longer will help his inevitable introduction in the long run, especially as Spider-Man: No Way Home showed that the Jon Watts trilogy was basically Holland's Spider-Man origin story.

It is unclear if Holland's Spider-Man will stay on or if he will move on when Miles is introduced. Holland has already said he's taking a break from the character, but whether that is indefinitely is yet to be seen. One of the best parts about Miles and Peter is the mentor-and-learner relationship the two share. If Holland stays on, this will show how far Peter's come as a character while showing a different type of origin for Miles as he has someone to confide in. They could even introduce Miles in Holland's Spider-Man 4 without powers, setting up his return and origin to be told in another movie.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse shows that even if Holland isn't around for Miles' MCU debut, it's not the end of the world. Miles is a great character on his own, and showing him come to terms with his powers by himself could prove to be equally engaging. Conversely, having Holland's Spider-Man there with him would add another layer of storytelling that hasn't been seen in live-action Spider-Man films before now. Either way, if Sony's Spider-Verse continues to be bold and innovative, Miles Morales' MCU debut can't be too far behind.
