The first look at Across the Spider-Verse's Spider-Man villain arrives as The Spot takes the fight to the webslinger. The sequel to 2019's Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will once again focus on Miles Morales as he is invited by Gwen Stacy to travel into the multiverse in an adventure to face off against The Spot. Miles and Gwen will turn to a team of new and familiar Spider-People in the hopes of saving the various realities from the powerful villain.

Shameik Moore returns to lead the cast of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as Miles, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis and Luna Laure Vélez as Rio Morales. The animated sequel will also mark the proper franchise debut of Oscar Isaac as Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099 following his post-credits arrival in the previous film, Issa Rae as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman and Jason Schwartzmann as The Spot. Though there's still a year remaining from its arrival, audiences are getting a new taste of what's to come from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

As part of the studio's Annecy Festival panel, Sony unveiled a new look at Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The image shows the first look at The Spot, the Spider-Man villain making his big-screen debut as he battles both Miles and Gwen in a New York setting. Check out the exciting first look below:

The Spot in Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse

Created by Al Milgrom and Herb Trimpe, The Spot made his Marvel Comics debut in 1984's Spectacular Spider-Man No. 97 as Dr. Jonathan Ohnn, a scientist working for the Kingpin who was tasked with finding a way to recreate Cloak's powers and successfully created a black portal. He would emerge from the portal with a number of spots on his body leading to various dimensions, which he turns to use to defeat Spider-Man in their first fight, though would later lose to the webslinger. The Spot would go on to confront both Spider-Man and Daredevil at various points in the comics.

The reveal of The Spot as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's villain is sure to come as an exciting development for comic book fans as the creative team behind the sequel pull another more obscure antagonist to face the various Spider-People. In addition to Jason Schwartzmann's portal-using villain, Sony also revealed at Annecy that the heroes will encounter an anachronistic version of The Vulture voiced by The Lonely Island alum Jorma Taccone and Gwen's dad, police officer George Stacy voiced by Joker star Shea Whigham. With a year still remaining until Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hits theaters, audiences will have to keep their eyes peeled for further looks at the long-awaited sequel.
