With Tom Holland returning for a new Spider-Man trilogy, here are some of the villains that could be in Spider-Man 45, and 6. Marvel Studios and Sony agreed to an unprecedented deal in 2015 to share Spider-Man on the big screen so the web-slinger could be rebooted as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland's Peter Parker made five movie appearances in four years as a result, and Spider-Man: No Way Home caps off his first trilogy. While it appeared this could be the final MCU Spider-Man movie, plans are in motion for another trilogy starring Holland.

Most details about Spider-Man 45, and 6 are not yet known, but the possibility of another trilogy of movies means Holland's Spider-Man will encounter multiple villains. At the start of Marvel Studios and Sony's collaboration, it was decided that the Spider-Man solo films would feature villains who weren't used in either Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy or Andrew Garfield's two The Amazing Spider-Man films. This led Vulture to becoming the lead villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Mysterio wreaking havoc in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Other villains like Prowler, Shocker, and Tinkerer were also featured in supporting roles. Spider-Man: No Way Home took the mantra of using new villains and went in the completely other direction. The power of the multiverse enabled the studios to bring back many previous Spider-Man movie actors/villains, including Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, and Jamie Foxx's Electro.

It is unclear what strategy Marvel and Sony will implement when it comes time to choose villains for Spider-Man 45, and 6. Tom Holland's Spider-Man could continue battling villains from across the multiverse, face new iterations of villains previously seen, face off with some of his own familiar foes, or even confront more characters from Spider-Man's excellent rogues' gallery in the comics. There are a lot of options on the table, so here are the villains the next Spider-Man trilogy could include.

Venom

Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock in Venom 2

Looking ahead to Spider-Man 4, it could be the movie that finally pits Tom Holland's Spider-Man against Tom Hardy's Venom. Fans have been waiting for such an encounter ever since Hardy was cast, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage's post-credits scene clearly sets up a meeting with Spider-Man in Venom's future. The tease that the Venom symbiote knows about Spider-Man and wants to eat him is enough to possibly justify when Hardy's character would make a villainous turn. This would give Sony a chance to redeem themselves after Spider-Man 3's widely panned take on Venom and Peter Parker's story. Furthermore, Venom is a natural choice for Spider-Man's next villain based on the character's popularity in pop culture, as his presence in Spider-Man 4 could allow the movie to be another massive box office success for Sony and Marvel.

Kraven the Hunter

Kraven the Hunter is also an obvious candidate to take on Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the next trilogy. It is no secret that the MCU creative team behind the first trilogy had an interest in using him, but Spider-Man: No Way Home's evolution seemingly changed that plan. Sony is now developing a Kraven the Hunter movie starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the Spider-Man villain, which will be released in 2023. There have been talks of Spider-Man appearing in the solo film, but that has yet to be confirmed. If Spider-Man isn't in Kraven the Hunter, having Kraven appear in one of the next solo films as a villain would make sense. This might require some more multiverse connections depending on Kraven's solo film is or isn't tied to the MCU, but he would be an excellent villain to help scale down Holland's next trilogy while still keeping the stakes high.

Wilson Fisk

Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk in Daredevil

The MCU's next Spider-Man trilogy could also include the long-awaited confrontation between Spider-Man and Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. Fans have hoped the New York crime boss could cross paths with Spider-Man ever since Daredevil happened and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin became one of Marvel's best on-screen villains. With rumors that he'll appear in Hawkeye and that Daredevil will be in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel Studios might already be setting the stage for Wilson Fisk to be Spider-Man 4's villain. Kingpin and Spider-Man have had plenty of run-ins in the comics, so it's a natural fit for their MCU futures to collide. This would also give Peter Parker a different type of villain to face off with and open the door for Marvel to incorporate other street-level New York villains as people who answer to Fisk.

Green Goblin

There is also the chance that one of the villains included in Spider-Man 45, or 6 is Norman Osborn aka Green Goblin. Willem Dafoe returns as the iconic Spider-Man villain in Spider-Man: No Way Home. While this is being done through the multiverse, the MCU hasn't introduced the Sacred Timeline's version of Norman. After encountering a version of him from another universe, Peter could become interested in learning about the possible Green Goblin in his timeline. It would be great to see Dafoe continue playing the character in that regard. Green Goblin would also be an interesting threat for the next trilogy because Peter would know Norman is destined to become a villain, so he could do everything in his power to make sure that doesn't happen.

Scorpion

Spider-Man Homecoming Scorpion

Tom Holland's new Spider-Man trilogy could also be the place where Marvel and Sony finally payoff Spider-Man: Homecoming's Scorpion tease. The first MCU solo movie included Michael Mando's Mac Gargan as a supporting villain working with Vulture. However, Gargan never transformed into his comic villain persona of Scorpion. Spider-Man: Homecoming made sure to tease that Mac will become Scorpion at some point and wants to get revenge on Spider-Man. Scorpion could fill many roles in Spider-Man 45, or 6 too. He'd present the studios with a fresh Spider-Man villain to be the main foe and help ground the trilogy at some point. Otherwise, Scorpion could return as a supporting villain and work for one of the film's bigger bads, such as Norman Osborn or Wilson Fisk.

Rhino

Spider-Man villain Rhino

Rhino also could get his shot at a live-action redemption in Spider-Man 45, and 6. Sony included him in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but Paul Giamatti's Aleksei Sytsevich didn't get inside the giant mechanical Rhino suit until the very end. Barring a surprise appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Rhino's return to the big screen might be saved for the next trilogy. Whether he became the main villain of one of the upcoming solo films or played a supporting role, Rhino would be a very different type of villain for Holland's Spider-Man. Vulture, Mysterio, and most of No Way Home's multiverse villains aren't that much bigger than Spider-Man physically. Rhino is a massive physical threat to Spider-Man and could push Peter to the edge of the beatings he can withstand.

Mister Negative

Mister Negative Marvel

The MCU's next Spider-Man trilogy might also be a place for Sony and Marvel to bring Mister Negative to live-action for the first time. The crime lord with Darkforce/Lightforce powers has only been part of Spider-Man's rogues' gallery since 2007, but he's quickly become a recurring threat. He became much more popular in pop culture in recent years thanks to Spider-Man PS4, where Mister Negative is the main villain. The game followed the comics and made Mister Negative the leader of FEAST, a homeless shelter where Aunt May volunteers. In fact, Spider-Man: No Way Home's inclusion of FEAST could mean the MCU is already prepping for his arrival.

Chameleon

The Chameleon sitting on a chair surrounded by masks in the comics

Another fun villain option for Spider-Man 45, and 6 is Dmitri Smerdyakov aka Chameleon. It is possible the MCU already introduced its version of the mask-wearing, identity-changing villain, as Spider-Man: Far From Home included a character named Dimitri who worked for Nick Fury. In any case, Chameleon's ability to impersonate anyone is what makes him a compelling villain for Spider-Man and could give the next trilogy some added mystery. It's unlikely Chameleon would become the main villain of an entire movie, so his role could be working with his brother Kraven to take down Spider-Man. And if the studios do use him, then there is also the opportunity for numerous cameos as Chameleon attempts to mess with Peter's psyche.
