When will Spider-Man: No Way Home's first trailer be released? Footage from the upcoming movie wasn't included in the "Marvel Celebrates the Movies" sizzle reel, and the premiere date for the Sony title is now less than six months away. Set to serve as the 27th installment in the MCU and the fourth in Phase 4, the title will again follow Tom Holland's Peter Parker after the teen's identity as Spider-Man was publicized. Originally meant to debut in July 2021, No Way Home was pushed back after the MCU shuffled release dates due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic delays.

Before Spider-Man: Far From Home went into production, Sony and Marvel Studios began plans for the untitled third film. Jon Watts, who directed both Spider-Man films set in the MCU, is back at the helm to steer the next chapter of Spider-Man Peter Parker's journey. Alongside Holland, returning cast members include Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei. The movie will also incorporate former Sony Spider-Man actors like Jamie Foxx as Electro and Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, among other rumored characters. As for notable MCU figures, Benedict Cumberbatch will have a prominent role as Dr. Stephen Strange ahead of his next solo movie.

Filming for No Way Home commenced in October 2020 before wrapping up in March 2021, splitting time in New York City and Atlanta. Now that the December release date is set in stone and inching closer, the next step is releasing the first-look footage. With Sony in control of marketing, it could explain why Spider-Man trailer footage was missing from Marvel's sizzle reel. Still, it's likely the Spider-Man: No Way Home full trailer will arrive before August 2021. While this method doesn't fall in line with timetables previously used by Sony when debuting Spider-Man movie trailers, which were about six months before previous movies arrived in theaters, Sony seems to be taking a different approach in the altered world of theatrical releases.

Will Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer Release With Black Widow?

Spider-Man MCU and Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and Eternals

While a May or June release for the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer fit Sony's previously used timeline, that didn't turn out to be the case. There was a belief Sony and Marvel would have a plan for something to be made public before Black Widow's July release date. But seeing as Marvel is focused on Loki, and the fact Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals had released trailers leading up to Black Widow, adding the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer to the mix would be MCU overload. It's plausible Sony will hold off a few weeks.

When We Think The Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer Will Release

Tom Holland Spiderman 3 Andrew Garfield Amazing spiderman 2 Tobey Maguire Spiderman 3

If the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer isn't out in time for Black Widow's big debut, there's another upcoming title likely in the eyes of Sony and Marvel. The Suicide Squad is set to premiere the first week of August, which gives the rival franchise an opportunity to run footage for the forthcoming Spider-Man sequel ahead of showings of that DC movie. Therefore, it makes sense the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer release could occur by the end of July, debuting online shortly before running with The Suicide Squad. That also allows Sony and Marvel Studios to play into Spider-Man 3's Christmas setting by celebrating "Christmas in July" with a special marketing stunt featuring a trailer release.

Holland, Zendaya, and Batalon released spoofs of the sequel's title ahead of the official title release. Sony may use the trio to publicly debut the first-look footage. Based on the rumors surrounding the incorporation of the MCU Multiverse, there's an extra level of eagerness for the trailer's arrival, especially if Loki ties in somehow. There's still hope the footage will confirm the involvement of rumored characters like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's past portrayals as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, but viewers will need to remain patient until that first Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer drops.
