Spider-Man 3 fan-art imagines Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) bringing all other versions of Spider-Man into the MCU. For months now, Marvel Studios has been mum about their upcoming projects as everyone waits for Phase 4 to kick off. Things have been delayed significantly due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that doesn't mean that work stops for Kevin Feige and his team; a string of casting news has come out recently — two of them pertains to Tom Holland's next outing in the franchise.

Firstly, reports of Jamie Foxx's Max Dillon aka Electro from 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 appearing in the untitled film solidified the idea that it will be the franchise's version of the Spider-Verse. While Marvel Studios and/or Sony Pictures Entertainment has yet to make comments about it, the idea is now almost confirmed with the Master of the Mystic Arts also boarding the project. Given this, the public has been pondering about what Doctor Strange in Spider-Man 3 will actually like, and this new fan-art is suggesting some cool possibilities.

The Spider-Man 3 illustration courtesy of Fandome imagines Doctor Strange and MCU's Peter Parker in the Sanctum Sanctorum; the sorcerer opens up three portals to reveal Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's live-action versions of the Marvel, and at the center is Miles Morales from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The fan-art also references the memorable Avengers: Endgame line from Holland's Peter: "Are we using our made-up names." Check out the fan-art below:

Electro's involvement effectively brings certain elements of Sony's past iterations of Spider-Man in the MCU. Spider-Man: Far From Home surprising debuted J.K. Simmons' as J. Jonah Jameson from the Raimi trilogy, although Marvel Studios updated him with a modern approach to the character and platform. Still, they can easily spin it in a way that he's the same version of the role that first debuted in the 2000s. That said, it's worth noting that there's no clear indication that Maguire and Garfield are also appearing in Spider-Man 3 — at least for now. It's possible that Marvel Studios and Sony are keeping their involvement under wraps considering that their appearance will be a massive treat for those who have watched their iterations prior to Holland coming in. In any case, as suggested by the aforementioned fan-art, Doctor Strange could function as the hero to bringing all of them into the MCU which makes a lot of sense since he's already dabbling with the multiverse in WandaVision and his own movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

With Spider-Verse factoring in Spider-Man 3, it's curious how the threequel will address the fallout of Far From Home's mid-credits scene where Peter's real identity was revealed to the world. The concept of the multiverse is a tricky one to tackle so chances are that it will be the primary narrative of the movie. As exciting as it is to see worlds collide in the project, it's also a bit disappointing knowing that the narrative may not really be able to explore the ramifications of Spider-Man's entanglement with Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal)
