Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 will bring multiple Marvel movie continuities together, making it the perfect opportunity to introduce Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) to the Marvel Cinematic Universe before Deadpool 3. The merc with a mouth's third solo feature, Deadpool 3, was recently confirmed to take place within the MCU by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, even though it will have an R rating. Prior to Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox, Deadpool shared a universe with the studio's long running X-Men franchise, though whether or not the other mutants will come with him is still unknown.

Despite the current division between Deadpool's universe and the MCU, rumors surrounding Spider-Man 3 have shown that the lines between continuities may be blurrier than previously thought. Actors from both Sam Raimi's Spider-Man franchise and Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man films have been cast in the upcoming feature, including Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. When put together with the confirmed appearance of Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, whose next movie will be titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans have theorized said multiverse will first appear in the next Spider-Man movie. This means a massive array of characters once thought to be separate from the MCU could be integrated with the current timeline.

Among these continuity-displaced superhumans could be Deadpool himself, unwittingly transported to the Marvel Cinematic Universe via interdimensional travel. Appearing side-by-side with Tom Holland's Spider-Man (or any of the film's other Peter Parkers) would bring the characters' iconic friendship from the comics to the big screen, and provide plenty of fuel for Deadpool's signature fourth wall-breaking humor.

Deadpool Creative Team Crossover Spider-Man

Although Spider-Man and Deadpool are mostly known as friends in the comics, albeit ones with a complex relationship, they do not have to start out that way in the MCU. Upon their first meeting, Deadpool could mistake Spider-Man for an enemy, or even be hired by a villain to take him out, leading to a fast-paced chase scene or guns-versus-webs battle. Tom Holland's Spider-Man is the most comedic iteration of the character yet, and their confrontation would be equally packed with action and wit. Trading barbs could even be what causes Deadpool to come around to the kid and end his pursuit, kickstarting their unlikely friendship.

On top of his interactions with quipsters like Spider-Man, putting Deadpool in the middle of a movie like Spider-Man 3 would allow the character to flex his comedic muscles. The film promises to be cameo-packed, even possibly making the perennial rumors of a Holland-Garfield-Maguire Spider-Man team up a reality. The many surprise character appearances and massive fan hype surrounding it would make easy targets for Wade Wilson. Disney's growing power in the entertainment world, including their merger with Fox, as well as sheer volume of upcoming Marvel movies and TV shows could also earn some jabs.

Introducing Deadpool in Spider-Man 3 would not only supply lots of fun character moments, but would also give a logical explanation as to why Deadpool 3 would take place in the MCU without much retconning or other plot contrivances in its exposition. Putting Wade Wilson in a "fish out of water" situation where he has to adjust to the rules of an entirely different, mostly PG-13 world would certainly be entertaining to explore, but it also leaves the futures of his supporting cast hanging in the balance. Perhaps, then, Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 could feature a larger convergence of worlds that brings more of Deadpool's established surroundings to the MCU, in which even the X-Men could come with him.
