Gorgeous new Spider-Man 3 fan art shows Emma Stone as Spider-Gwen. Stone had previously played Gwen Stacey in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2; she acted as Peter Parker's (Andrew Garfield) central love interest before being killed by Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan). Although MJ (Zendaya) has taken over the role as Peter's (Tom Holland) love interest in the current Marvel/Sony Spider-Man franchise, Gwen has continued to remain a fan favorite for her undeniable wit and charm.

Spider-Gwen was introduced in Marvel's 2014 Edge of Spider-Verse miniseries. The series shows an alternate dimension where Gwen Stacy transforms into Spider-Woman (or Spider-Gwen as fans call her) after being bitten by a radioactive spider. Spider-Gwen also made her big screen debut in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Spider-Gwen quickly proved to be extremely popular; she's received her own comic book series, as well as a variety of associated merchandise. In addition, Spider-Gwen has appeared in multiple animated TV shows, including Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors and Ultimate Spider-Man.

New Spider-Man 3 fan art by Hibban Mohammed shows Stone as Spider-Gwen. While Stone wears a black and white suit, she doesn't have on the white hood or mask that's typically associated with Spider-Gwen. She's holding onto a piece of webbing, which appears to be pulling her through the air. You can check out Mohammed's stunning new creation below:

In his caption, Mohammed references the recent Tobey Maguire and Garfield casting rumors. More specifically, there's been intense speculation that Maguire and Garfield - who both played Peter Parker in past Spider-Man films - might make an appearance in Spider-Man 3. While these casting rumors were quickly shut down by a Sony representative, it's possible that things could still change. That being said, if Maguire and Garfield really do make an appearance in Spider-Man 3, it would also be incredibly cool to see Stone's Spider-Gwen as well. Spider-Gwen already proved to be one of Into the Spider-Verse's breakout stars; seeing Stone reprise her role as Gwen Stacy - albeit a superpowered one from an alternate dimension - would be an incredible treat for die-hard Spider-Man fans.

Spider-Gwen's driven, tough, and somewhat angsty persona has captured an entire generation of fans. All in all, Spider-Gwen has shown she can hold her own against the best, as she goes head-to-head with villains such as Matt Murdock, Kingpin, and Norman Osborn. That being said, Spider-Gwen shone in Into the Spider-Verse. While it's unclear if she'll appear in Spider-Man 3, fans hope to see a live-action Spider-Gwen in the near future - and Stone's appearance as the beloved character would be a sweet, nostalgic way to truly bring things full circle.
