Following the release of the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, fans share their hopes that Emma Stone will appear as Gwen Stacy. For months now, the buzz surrounding the MCU's latest Spidey story and its multiversal premise has been growing, and it finally culminated in the release of the movie's official trailer on Monday night. Tom Holland once again returns to play Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, a new adventure that picks up in the aftermath of the previous movie. With his exposed identity causing trouble for him and his loved ones, Peter takes some drastic steps to change what happened.

As the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer revealed, Peter seeks out Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for aid. However, when a spell goes drastically wrong, the multiverse comes alive. Numerous actors from past Spider-Man movies are reportedly set to appear in No Way Home, including Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. So far, though, only Alfred Molina's Doc Ock has been revealed, though Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin received quite the tease.

With the door now open for what feels like virtually anyone to appear, fans have taken to social media to share their hopes about who will be included in Spider-Man: No Way Home. A very popular pick is Emma Stone, The Amazing Spider-Man's Gwen Stacy. It was enough to get Stone trending on Twitter as fans chimed in about their desire to see her return.

Stone played Gwen opposite Garfield's Peter in two Amazing Spider-Man movies, the second of which involved her tragic death at the hands of the Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan). When reports surfaced stating Garfield would be returning for Spider-Man: No Way Home, many wondered if Stone would as well. For her part, Stone responded to the Spider-Man 3 return rumors back in May and said she is not involved with the movie. However, that hasn't deterred fans, since many Marvel actors have claimed to not be involved with a project, only to turn around and appear. For example, Jonathan Majors said he wasn't in Loki at all before having a surprise role in the finale.

Whether or not Stone will be among the returning players in Spider-Man: No Way Home remains to be seen, but fans are certainly hopeful. Despite the lukewarm reception the Amazing Spider-Man movies received, the chemistry between Stone and Garfield was a highlight, and it would be exciting to see them reunite onscreen. Alternatively, some fans have theorized that Stone could become Spider-Gwen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which could pave the way for even more exciting adventures down the line. For now, everyone will have to wait and see what the movie has in store.
