New Spider-Man fan art makes the case that Black Cat from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 should join the MCU. Years after Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy came to a close, Sony sought to revive the property with The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield. While the first installment was relatively well-received, 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stumbled with fans and critics. Many pointed out that, by attempting to set up future installments within it, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 buckled under its own weight. The film featured numerous characters as well, including an under-the-radar Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat (Felicity Jones).

Since then, Spider-Man's world has received new life through the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland has played the iconic hero since 2016's Captain America: Civil War, and he'll next appear in the MCU's Spider-Man 3. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but Spider-Man 3 has already accumulated quite the supporting cast, from Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange to, most interestingly, Jamie Foxx as Electro. Foxx previously played Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and the news that he will reprise that role for Spider-Man 3 has surprised audiences.

Since there's already one Amazing Spider-Man 2 character making the leap to the MCU, some wonder if others could join him. This new fan art from Venomhology makes the argument that Jones' Black Cat should be brought into the MCU. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 didn't show her transformation into Black Cat, leaving fans dreaming of what might have been. The art finally puts Jones in the Black Cat costume and shows that she deserves another chance in the spotlight. Check out the piece down below.

For her part, Jones said just last year she would love to play Black Cat again if the opportunity arose. Her role was just one of the many causalities from Sony's failed Amazing Spider-Man plans, and it's really a shame that Felicia didn't reach her full potential. There were plans to make a Black Cat and Silver Sable film for a time, but those have fallen to the wayside, leaving the future of the characters a mystery.

Since Electro is already making the jump from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to the MCU, there is always be a chance Black Cat could as well. However, there currently aren't any plans to include Black Cat in either the MCU at large or Spider-Man 3, so Jones' time as the character really might be over. Still, at least there's fan art like the above piece that can imagine what she would have looked like as the anti-heroine.
