A new piece of fan art imagines what Spider-Woman could look like if she joined the MCU. Spider-Woman is a character that dates back to the late '70s when she appeared in Marvel Spotlight #32 in 1977. After the fan reaction of her first appearance, Marvel decided to give Spider-Woman her own comic series starting the next year. Several women have taken on the name Spider-Woman over the years, but the first and the most popular version of the character was named Jessica Drew.
Once Tom Holland joined the MCU as Spider-Man, there were theories on how Jessica Drew could be introduced into the franchise. A popular theory was that the character would show up in Spider-Man: Far From Home, with Jessica Drew working for Nick Fury, but that of course didn't end up happening. Jessica Drew is actually the one character that both Marvel and Sony can use; however, Marvel is limited in that they can't call her Spider-Woman, or even give her any spider powers. That being said, Sony is introducing Spider-Woman in their all-female Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse spin-off, so fans will get to see her animated version up on the big screen soon. As for her live-action appearance, the following is what she could look like in live-action form.
Artist Adam Sean recently shared his version of what Spider-Woman could look like in the MCU. The artist stays true to the character's comic book costume, while also basing his design off of the Wasp and Falcon from the MCU. The artist also drew the character with a full face mask rather than the usual eye mask.
While Spider-Woman hasn't been introduced in the MCU yet, there have been other "Spider-People" teased in the MCU. Cindy Moon, played by Tiffany Espensen, made brief appearances in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers Infinity War, but there's no indication so far that Marvel will turn her into the superhero Silk. However, Sony is developing a Silk solo movie, so it's possible they could keep Espensen in the role or recast her. Miles Morales was also teased in Spider-Man: Homecoming when Donald Glover's character, Aaron Davis, talks about his nephew. With the success of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, it only seems like a matter of time before a live-action Miles makes his way to the big screen as well.
Fans have been waiting to see a live-action Spider-Woman, but she is unlikely to actually appear in the MCU. It's rumored that Marvel is working to write Spider-Man out of the MCU to give control back to Sony, now that their Spider-Man villain universe is taking off. However, their villain universe seems to be part of the MCU based on the first Morbius trailer, so who knows? Maybe Sony and Marvel will come to another deal so that Spider-Woman can fight alongside the other heroes in the MCU.
