During the many announcements that came from this year's Disney+ Day event, one smaller piece of information released was the addition of a Spider-Verse section on the streaming platform. This comes during a time where a Spider-Man multiverse is on every Marvel fan's mind. The MCU has currently been expanding on the idea of the multiverse with some of its Phase 4 entries.

Additionally, the hype surrounding the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home is everywhere on the internet due to the fact that villains from older, non-MCU Spider-Man movies will be making appearances as the villains. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are also rumored to be in the movie, reprising their roles as Spider-Man in their respective franchises. Those waiting anxiously for No Way Home's arrival in theaters have a new way to kill some time, thanks to the streaming service.

Now, a Spider-Verse section has been added to Disney+. Fans can check it out by visiting the app and going to the Marvel banner. This collection seemingly has every piece of Spider-Man content that the app has to offer. It is convenient for those who just want to watch anything related to Spider-Man, whether it is new or old.

This section on Disney+ gives fans access to many Spider-Man projects that have released over the course of many years. Included are some older cartoons such as Spider-Man (1994) and Spider-Woman (1979), and some newer ones such as Spider-Man (2017). The category also has the web-slinger's appearances in the MCU (except his own solo films). This includes Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, as well as Captain America: Civil War. The exclusion of Tom Holland's solo MCU entries are likely due to the fact that they are co-produced with Sony, who is building a Spider-Verse of their own.

This is an exciting addition to Disney+ because of the timing. As previously stated, the MCU is seemingly heading toward its own Spider-Verse with the rumored inclusion of Maguire and Garfield in No Way Home. This is also backed by the fact that the post-credits scene for Venom: Let There Be Carnage saw Venom being transported to what seemed like the MCU. That could prove Sony and Marvel Studios are setting up some sort of connected universe between the MCU and Sony's Spider-Man movie universe. There is also the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie that establishes a multiverse of Spider-Men, which has a sequel arriving in 2022. With all of this, it seems that Spider-Man fans are in for a treat.

Of course, this banner is also important because it allows fans of the web-head to check out other shows or movies that they could have missed. It also enables different generations to revisit some of their favorite shows or movies from their childhoods. Spider-Man is one of the most iconic superheroes in history, so having a Spider-Verse section on Disney+ dedicated to his long history of media is fantastic.
