Marvel Comics has just announced a new Spider-Verse series featuring the ongoing adventures of Hobie Brown's Spider-Punk, the axe-shredding Spider-Man who killed his reality's version of Venom. As seen in events such as Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Geddon, Hobie Brown was a Spider hero who was consistently featured fighting the Inheritors just as he fights the power in his own reality, resisting the establishment seeking to take over his world. Now, the new Spider-Punk miniseries will see Brown continuing to rebel against the powers that be.

Spider-Verse #2 was readers' first look at Brown's Earth-138 which saw Spider-Punk forming a resistance movement along with Captain Anarchy and Hulk. Armed with nothing but his spider-powers, his electric guitar, and a ton of amps, Brown ended up killing the corrupt President Norman Osborn who was armed with V.E.N.O.M (Variable Engagement Neuro-sensitive Organic Mesh). Epically, the sound waves from Spider-Punk's guitar caused the V.E.N.O.M to fall apart, allowing Brown to decapitate Osborn which ended his authority for good. Beyond the greater Spider-Verse events, Spider-Punk has also been featured in some brief one-shots, such as his battle with Kang the Conglomerator, another representative of the establishment.

Now, Den of Geek has revealed that Brown will be getting his own five-issue Spider-Punk miniseries from writer Cody Ziglar and artist Justin Mason. Following Osborn's murder, Ziglar compares Spider-Punk's next adventure to what happens after the destruction of the Death Star in Star Wars: "This is very much him saying, ’I’ve taken out the figurehead, but now I deal with the actual institution. How do I topple the actual institution?’ And for that, he has to put together a fun little team." Here's the newly released cover art and synopsis for Spider-Punk's first issue:

ANARCHY IN THE SPIDER-VERSE!

SPIDER-PUNK GETS HIS OWN SERIES!- HOBIE BROWN is THE ANARCHIC SPIDER-PUNK — set to protect EARTH-138 with his ax in hand and his chaotic band of punk rockin’ heroes backing him!

NORMAN OSBORN is dead, but will the chaos he’s created be too much for Spider-Punk and gang to handle?

Feel the vibes as CODY ZIGLAR (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN) and JUSTIN MASON bring you the jams when “BANNED IN DC” begins here!

Apparently, killing Norman Osborn's V.E.N.O.M was only the beginning of the war with the establishment still being intact despite losing its figurehead. Even so, it seems as though Spider-Punk will have his gang of allies such as Captain Anarchy and Hulk to help him out. However, perhaps all-new punk versions of classic heroes will be introduced as well in the new miniseries? It certainly seems as though Spider-Punk's greatest battle is still to come, so he'll probably need all the support he can get.

Seeing as how Spider-Punk quickly became a Spider-Verse favorite, it's exciting that his character and Earth will be further explored and fleshed out in this upcoming miniseries. Now all that's left is for the rebel Spider-Man and his axe to be featured in the next Spider-Verse film. Either way, Marvel's new Spider-Punk series will be releasing this April.
