Marvel fan art imagines Tom Holland’s Spider-Man facing off against Jamie Foxx’s Electro in Spider-Man Homecoming 3. As for now, Spider-Man Homecoming 3’s release date is scheduled for December 17, 2021, but with the coronavirus pandemic delaying multiple Marvel productions, Spider-Man may also be affected. Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Tony Revolori are set to reprise their roles in the new film, with Jamie Foxx as a surprise addition to the cast.

Jamie Foxx previously portrayed Electro in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which starred Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. The film failed to thrive at the box office and urged Sony to strike a deal with Marvel to share the character and save the franchise. After a recent custody battle, Sony and Marvel agreed to keep the iconic web-slinger in the MCU, and the third standalone movie for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is reportedly going to start filming soon. Foxx’s reappearance in the new movie will allow Marvel to make design changes to the villain and better execute the character in a way that is more authentic to the comics.

Digital artist Malcolm Kenneth released a stunning fan art piece envisioning a fight between Holland’s Spider-Man and Foxx’s Electro. Foxx looks extremely different from his blue, sparkling design from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and is instead wearing a black and green suit that is more true to the comics, complete with yellow lightning. Take a look at the artwork below:

Kenneth’s depiction of Foxx as Electro looks striking and impressive, and it will be exciting for fans to see how Marvel decides to alter Electro’s appearance for Spider-Man Homecoming 3. So far, Marvel has done a fantastic job on the portrayal of its comic villains, but with Sony’s creative control on the Spider-Man movies, it could be possible that Foxx is reprising the exact same character from his previous film. Though this doesn't mean that Electro will be blue again, it could suggest that Marvel is planning a live-action Spider-Verse event featuring multiple past Spider-Man actors and villains.

Electro is a classic Spider-Man comic villain, but Jamie Foxx barely got any time to shine as the character in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Spider-Man Homecoming 3 will give both Foxx and Electro a new future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and create many more challenges for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, including possibly setting up an introduction of the Sinister Six. Despite what happens, fans should anticipate a shocking return of Foxx’s character in Spider-Man Homecoming 3, and an intense battle scene between Electro and Holland’s Peter Parker.
