Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Trailer One of Sony's Most Viral Ever

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse's Trailer has already begun to break records, with the anticipated film becoming one of Sony's most viral trailers.

Sony's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse trailer has gone viral. The anticipated film recently dropped a new trailer with plenty of new characters, providing a look at Miles Morales' animated world. The film, a passion project for writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, is shaping up to be the crown jewel of Sony Animation's collection.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse follows the journey of Miles Morales, the Spider-Man in Marvel's Ultimates universe. The character has a massive fan following, including Donald Glover, who made an appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming as Aaron Davis, Miles's Uncle. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will mark Miles's big screen debut, and promises a major adventure for him, including cameos and classic villains.

According to Deadline, fans are thrilled with these choices and have made Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse one of Sony's most viral trailers ever. The trailer racked up 44 million views since its Tuesday drop. That tops the highly viewed trailers of both Sony's fellow animated movie Sausage Party and Warner Bros' Lego Batman, as well as Into the Spider-Verse's very highly viewed teaser from late last year. The trailer has also been the topic of 164 thousand social media conversations across various platforms since its release. While there's no box office tracking for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse yet, these numbers can only bode well for the film.

While the storyline for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is still being kept under wraps, the film is expected to feature several classic Spider-Man villains, and a lot of humor. With San Diego Comic-Con around the corner, fans are on the look out for more information. Peter Parker mentioned Comic-Con in the trailer, and while it could just be a clever line intended to wink at fans, some feel it could also be a hint that SDCC might see a major presence from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Nothing is confirmed however, and only time will tell if attendees of the event will learn more information about the hotly anticipated animated project.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse stars Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Jake Johnson as Peter Parker, Mahershala Ali as Aaron Davis, Byran Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis, Luna Lauren Velez as Rio Morales, Liev Schreiber in an unconfirmed role, and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy. The film is directed by Peter Ramsey and Rodney Persichetti Jr. Ramsey has recently been taking to Twitter, sharing his excitement with fans of the film. Given the above social media numbers, it's clear that audience and director are on the same page so far, and neither can wait for Miles to swing into theaters at last.
