Warning: SPOILERS for Marvel Zombies: Resurrection #1

Spider-man's spider-sense has saved him from danger countless times, alerting him whenever the web-slinger's usual villains are near. The more clever of his foes have been able to push this ability into overdrive, but Spider-Man has never had to deal with his spider-sense sounding for more than a couple of days at once. However, in a potential timeline involving a zombie outbreak, it's been revealed that spider-sense is a threat in and of itself - one which could even lead to his death.

Aptly named the "Peter Tingle" in the MCU film Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker's spider-sense acts as a sixth sense, enabling him to sense oncoming danger. Communicating a physiological warning to Spider-Man, this ability is distracting at its lowest level, but when surrounded by constant danger, Spider-Man's spider-sense can become overwhelmed, constantly going off and rendering the ability useless. In Marvel Zombies: Resurrection #1, written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson with art by Leonard Kirk, Spider-Man cannot escape the constant danger of the flesh-eating undead. After an extended period of time spent trying to survive the zombie apocalypse brought to Earth by Galactus, Spider-Man is fighting another battle - one hell of a migraine. And as it turns out, this migraine is deadly.

Since the beginning of the apocalypse, Spider-Man has been battling with the painful side-effects of his spider-sense sounding at high alert all day long. Now disheveled and short-tempered, the pain is clearly wearing on Pete, to the point his fellow survivors have noticed. Spider-Man has been travelling with Forge, Moonstone, the Fantastic Four's children Franklin and Valeria, Captain Marvel's cat Chewie, and a Sentinel that has been reprogrammed as a nanny. Looking for a place of refuge, Forge leads the group to the Xavier Institute, which puts them at risk of being attacked by zombie mutants.

But Forge's intentions are not only to find supplies and weapons to push back against Marvel's most powerful zombies, but to specifically help keep Spider-Man alive as well. Forge hypothesizes that the headaches Spider-Man is having will kill him eventually if he can't find something to stop them. This is a brutal revelation about one of Spider-Man's most unique abilities, but the reveal does stand to reason. Spider-Man's powers were granted by radiation and have caused him problems in the past, so there's no reason they wouldn't be physically damaging in the right circumstances. The mansion has gardens, generators, weapons, and a fallout shelter with enough food to last 500 years. There might even be a ship that can help get them off the planet. All of the potential resources available at the mansion make it a risk worth taking - or so they think. The events that follow are tragic, and they leave Spider-Man and his team without a cure for his headaches and perhaps even without hope.
