Warning! Contains a preview for Amazing Spider-Man #3

A new preview for Amazing Spider-Man reveals that learning the Webslinger's secret identity isn't as big a priority as it once was for Peter Parker's enemies. Becoming Tombstone's 'pet project', the crime boss has made it his hobby to educate Spider-Man and teach him a lesson in this new series. However, it seems as though unmasking isn't part of the equation as Spider-Man's secret identity apparently doesn't matter to a villain like Tombstone.

In this new Amazing Spider-Man run by Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr., Peter Parker has done something terrible that has yet to be revealed. As such, he's a lot more isolated to the point where even his Aunt May has issues with him. While Spider-Man and Mary Jane were preparing to move in together in the previous Spider-Man run, whatever Peter did in the interim has changed things drastically where MJ doesn't even want to speak to him (and even has kids in a surprise twist). As such, Peter has been venting a lot of his frustration while going out as Spider-Man, daring Lonnie Lincoln's Tombstone to come after him as New York prepares for a major gang war. However, Spider-Man was way too cocky and underestimated the heavy-hitting crime boss who beat him into unconsciousness.

Now, the new preview for Amazing Spider-Man #3 sees Spider-Man in chains in an abandoned subway tunnel. As Tombstone brutally beats him more, Spider-Man is naturally worried about the villain unmasking him. Surprisingly, Tombstone leaves the mask on after admitting that he doesn't care about Spider-Man's secret identity at all. Instead, he cares about "teaching Spider-Man a lesson", one that will no doubt leave its scars on the Webslinger. Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the upcoming issue:

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #3- I know that this is just #3, but did you notice that it's LGY #897? That means something big is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! There are things you don't know about Tombstone. Neither you, nor Spider-Man, will ever forget them.

Tombstone's certainly not messing around. It also seems like the lesson he intends to teach Spider-Man has only just begun. With a war brewing against the Kingpin's son known as the Rose, Spider-Man is an obstacle Tombstone can't afford. However, it does make sense that he doesn't care who Spider-Man really is. Tombstone's got bigger plans to focus on and has never had much respect for the performance that is superheroes. While he could have always used Spider-Man's secret identity to his advantage or to go after those Peter Parker loves, perhaps Lincoln's warped sense of honor prevented him from going that route.

At any rate, things are looking super bleak for Spider-Man. Tombstone's holding all the cards in this new preview seeing as how he could have easily unmasked Parker if he wanted to. Here's hoping the Webslinger will survive the villain's brutal lesson when the full Amazing Spider-Man #3 releases on June 8th.
