Marvel is pranking unsuspecting coffee shop customers with a startling appearance by Spider-Man in a new video. With just over two weeks to go before the release of Spidey's first MCU solo adventure Spider-Man: Homecoming, the promotional people at Marvel are out in full force, trying to grab viewers' attention in any way they can.

Naturally, the likes of Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr. and Marisa Tomei are doing interviews and making appearances on the talk show circuit; but then there are more unconventional ways to let viewers know that Spidey will soon be visiting their friendly neighborhood theater.

But in perhaps the most elaborate promotional appearance yet, Spider-Man is getting up-close-and-personal with customers of a popular coffee chain in New York City. In a new video released by Sony Pictures Entertainment, viewers are first given a look at the behind the scenes set up at the coffee shop, where Marvel is staging the Candid Camera scenario to capture viewers' priceless reactions. Rigged to drop in upside-down through a ceiling tile space, Spider-Man sometimes drops in to grab his coffee off the counter when his name is called, and other times he's lowered in merely to tap unsuspected customers on the shoulder to get a reaction – and the results are hilarious.

Spider-Man Homecoming Tom Holland

Of course, being this is a Marvel Studios production, the video is made complete with an appearance by the King of Cameos, Stan Lee, at the conclusion. It's quite unlikely, though, that Holland was playing Spidey, although he did appear in costume at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles earlier this month to visit young patients.

The playful video  is giving fans yet another reason to get excited about the latest film in the Spider-Man movie saga, which marks the character's second MCU appearance following his entertaining supporting role in Captain America: Civil War. Spider-Man: Homecoming certainly has a lot of momentum going into the last couple of weeks before the film's release. Early tracking data is estimating that Spider-Man: Homecoming will make somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 million in its opening weekend – a number that is sure to be bolstered by positive early reactions to the film and big buzz on social media.

With any luck, the promotional people at Marvel Studios will have a few more tricks up their sleeves in the coming weeks and drop a few more surprises on fans. After all, who wouldn't want to see Iron Man or Vulture in full costume face to face?
