Peter Parker's recently revealed new look in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PS5 has been combined with the original face of the character to create a brand-new Spidey closely resembling Chris Evans. This is rather ironic considering that Evans played Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sony recently shared a look at an updated cutscene from Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, which will be released with Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition on PS5. Besides going for obvious visual updates and enhancements for the next-gen console, Insomniac Games made the difficult decision to completely change Peter Parker’s appearance in the game. The result is much closer to Tom Holland, who is the face of Spidey in the MCU, but according to the developer, this uncanny likeness was not intentional. The main reason for the change was the desire to better utilize the PS5's powerful hardware by finding a more suitable facial match for actor Yuri Lowenthal, who portrays the character in the game.

Fans’ reactions to Parker’s face swap in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered have been rather mixed, judging by comments on social media, as many seem to prefer the original design - but there are those who love the new one. However, thanks to the power of FaceApp, players can now enjoy an even more realistic version that seems like it could satisfy both parties. Twitter user NolanEC11 combined the initial design of Marvel’s Spider-Man Peter Parker and his updated version from the upcoming PS5 remaster. The result is yet another completely unintentional MCU reference, only this time, it’s to Captain America actor Chris Evans. In the comment section, several users immediately expressed their thoughts over the obvious resemblance, even sharing one of BossLogic’s older pictures. The digital artist is known for believable face swaps of actors portraying famous comic book characters on screen, with one of the recent examples being Chris Evans envisioned as Spider-Man. Needless to say, he's one handsome friendly neighborhood vigilante.

Whether or not fans liked the updated Parker’s face, it is now canon and is going to be featured in Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition - and, presumably, future installments in the series. The game is expected to release at the beginning of November exclusively on PS5, serving as a spin-off focused on the new web-swinging character in the iconic suit. Miles will be seen fighting against a new group of villains who are threatening Harlem. As the game is not a full sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man, it is going to be smaller in scale, occupying less space on consoles’ storage space.

The FaceApp version of Peter Parker from Marvel’s Spider-Man is probably the best iteration of the character players could have gotten. Parker doesn’t look even remotely childish in this version, which is what the official updated Spider-Man is being criticized for by fans. At the same time, it doesn’t look like the original, somewhat artificial version either, which was slightly cartoonish and definitely less believable than its next-gen update. Lastly, it even fits Yuri Lowenthal even better, but sadly, the combined facial design is just fan art, albeit amazing, and doesn't reflect Parker’s looks in the game.
