A Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered player recently wowed his friend with a stunningly lifelike screenshot that could easily be mistaken for a real-world cosplay. Insomniac's open-world take on the ever-popular Spider-Man already wowed fans with its fluid combat and transversal gameplay and an emotional plot that detailed the struggles of Peter Parker and his costumed alter-ego, but players have found hours of additional entertainment in capturing the game's incredible graphics in Photo Mode.

As is the case with other games that implement the feature, like God Of War (2018) and The Last Of Us: Part 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man’s Photo Mode allows players to take and edit still pictures of Spidey in action - be they stunning images of the wall-crawler in mid-web swing or humorous selfies of the hero in the middle of a boss battle against the likes of the Rhino or Doc Ock. Especially creative players have even used Photo Mode to recreate video game covers and movie posters from Spider-Man’s past using the many alternate costumes that Marvel’s Spider-Man allows players to unlock. Some of these works of art have even garnered the attention of Insomniac Games, as was the case with one Marvel's Spider-Man fan’s custom Spider-Man: No Way Home poster.

Reddit user Anchovies4Breakfast recently shared a Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered screenshot a friend had sent them, depicting Spidey standing around New York City dressed in Miguel O’Hara’s classic Spider-Man 2099 costume. This friend had just gotten a PlayStation 5 and wished to share the news with Anchovies4Breakfast, who was surprised when their buddy told them that the image wasn’t just the friend in a good cosplay. Sure enough, the featured Marvel’s Spider-Man screenshot is incredibly detailed, owning up to Marvel's Spider-Man's graphical update on the PS5, and this has sparked some mild conversation in the comments section about how graphics are getting more lifelike with each console generation.

Marvel’s Spider-Man’s Photo Mode will likely return in the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which was first revealed during last September's massive PlayStation Showcase livestream. The trailer shown at this event featured Peter Parker and rookie web-slinger Miles Morales working together to take down a group of criminals, only to come across a new nightmare when Venom emerges from the shadows. The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer also included a voice-over narration by what is believed to be Kraven The Hunter, and subsequent story leaks have hinted at appearances by The Lizard and Mysterio. Yet another of these rumors hints that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will include a Symbiote variant of every alternate suit, a feature that would fit well with the game’s plot seemingly focusing on Venom.

This would also give players more opportunities to impress their friends with incredible Photo Mode screenshots like the one Anchovies4Breakfast’s friend recently shared. Video game graphics have certainly come a long way since Spider-Man swung onto the original PlayStation in Spider-Man (2000), and this is made readily apparent with the strikingly lifelike graphics of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on the PS5.
