Spider-Man and Doctor Strange's connection now apparently goes beyond the MCU, as footage from Insomniac Games' Spider-Man PS4 title includes an appearance by the Sorcerer Supreme's Sanctum Sanctorum. This year's Avengers: Infinity War brought Doctor Strange and Peter Parker together on the big screen, as the heroes of the MCU united to battle the Mad Titan Thanos. While Spider-Man PS4 won't be connected to the ongoing MCU narrative in any way, Marvel fans may get to see Marvel's New York-based superheroes interacting with each other yet again in the video game.

Some eagle-eyed fans had actually already spotted the Sanctum Sanctorum in the Spider-Man PS4 trailer released at last year's Paris Games Week. However, since it was spotted in a wide-angle shot, there was some doubt as to whether it was really Doctor Strange's base or just another building similar in appearance. Now, however, thanks to a newly-released gameplay demo that Insomniac Games previewed at this year's E3, fans can clearly see the Marvel landmark in all of its (exterior) glory.

Insomniac Games' live stream event for Spider-Man PS4 (which was posted to their official YouTube channel) included an in-depth look at the E3 presentation and a tease of the title's gameplay demo, wherein fans got a great look at Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum. Fans got a glimpse of the three-story townhouse's exterior (located at 177A Bleecker Street's) as Spidey swung from building to building, until he found himself on a rooftop directly across the Sorcerer Supreme's home. It's still unclear at this point, but chances are slim that players will be able to go inside of the actual building. You can check out a screenshot of the Sanctum Sanctorum in the game, below.

Just last week, it was revealed that the Avengers' tower will also show up in the Spider-Man PS4 game. However, unlike Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum, that New York building is noticeably different from its MCU counterpart. Still, between the cameos of the Sorcerer's Supreme's base and Earth Mightiest Heroes' headquarters in the Big Apple, Marvel Games seems to be planting plot seeds for what could be their very own interconnected universe - a concept that Vice President and executive producer Mike Jones floated last year.

While executive creative director Bill Rosemann didn't confirm the idea when asked about it earlier this year, an interconnected games series from Marvel would be a great way to cross-promote forthcoming titles from the company (despite coming from different developers). Square Enix is currently developing an Avengers games which could very well tie-in to the upcoming Spider-Man game, especially given the existence of the Avengers tower in the latter. While Doctor Strange may not be as popular a Marvel character as Spider-Man or Iron Man, having him appear in the Spider-Man PS4 title would be a great way to introduce him into what could become a Marvel Games Universe (or MGU, if you will).
