The reviews for Spider-Man: No Way Home have finally arrived, and so far its Rotten Tomatoes score stands out against all the Spider-Men movies that came before. Most Spider-Man movies have seen solid performances on Rotten Tomatoes, but if Spider-Man: No Way Home's score holds, it'll be the highest-scoring Spider-Man movie.

Prior to Spider-Man: No Way Home, the seven previous live-action Spider-Man movies had an average score of 79 percent with every movie except for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 earning a Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. Four out of the first seven movies earned scores over 90 percent, with the other two Fresh scores coming in at 63 percent and 72 percent.

Spider-Man: No Way Home's debut reviews give it a perfect 100 percent score in Rotten Tomatoes through 29 reviews, which makes it, as of now, the highest-scoring Spider-Man movie yet (and also the highest-scoring MCU movie). Spider-Man movies have averaged over 300 Rotten Tomatoes reviews each, with Tom Holland's MCU Spider-Man movies seeing an average of well over 400 reviews each, so the score is certainly subject to change, but a perfect debut is still a good sign.

A lot of recent blockbusters have seen a significant slump in their review score after an initially high debut, and while that can't be entirely ruled out for Spider-Man: No Way Home, the movie also has an 8.2 out of 10 average review score, which is also higher than the debut score for any other Spider-Man movie and tied with Avengers: Endgame for second-highest average review score in the MCU. Comparatively, movies that saw a big drop in their scores, didn't have nearly as high of an average review score on their debut. Wonder Woman 1984 debuted at 88 percent with a 7.3 average review score before dropping all the way to 58 percent and a 6.0 out of 10 average and F9 debuted to a 71 percent score on the Tomatometer with a 6.0 average review score before dropping to 59 percent and 5.7. In both cases, the debut score over-represented the strength of the reviews before falling to a score more in-line with their average reviews. Spider-Man: No Way Home's perfect score on the Tomatometer also over-represents its 8.2 average score, but even if it drops to be in line with the other similarly scored MCU movies, it has a good chance of retaining its highest-rated Spider-Man movie status.

Of course, Rotten Tomatoes isn't always the most predictable, so there is a possibility we could still see some unexpected swings with Spider-Man: No Way Home, but based on the strength of the debut scores, that's not likely. While its debut score says it could be the highest-scoring Spider-Man movie or MCU movie in Rotten Tomatoes, it's actually in more direct competition with the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which currently has a 97 percent positive score and an 8.8 average review score.
