The hype has been monumental for Spider-Man: No Way Home since the 1st trailer teased some of the villains who would face off against Tom Holland's Peter Parker. The exciting part is that the film features returning villains from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man movies.

Speculations arose that the film will likely showcase the Sinister Six on top of its multiverse storyline. Before the teaser trailer was released, Doc Ock and Electro were the only two villains formally confirmed. That preview expanded on the scale of the returning villains, with a few hints here and there of three more Spider-Man foes. Thankfully, the 2nd trailer dropped last night and finally confirmed the appearances of five Spider-Man villains, although there could be more as the film reaches closer to its release date on December 17.

Doc Ock

Doc Ock looks confused as his tentacles appear beside him in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Perhaps one of the best Spider-Man movie villains of all time, Doc Ock made his on-screen debut in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2. In Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man movies, Doc Ock was a talented scientist who worked for Oscorp and had robotic tentacle-like arms attached to his body, earning the alias Doctor Octopus. Despite his feud with Spider-Man, he is one of the few villains who had a change of heart and sacrificed himself to destroy the fusion reaction before it got any worse.

It was just last year that news broke of Alfred Molina reprising his role as Doc Ock. Of course, fans were thrilled to see him appear in the first trailer, with the famous "Hello Peter" line. The 2nd trailer dives more into his characterization and teases his sentimental nature, a consistent demeanor seen in Spider-Man 2. The direction is unclear about the famous Spider-Man villain, but it does spark curiosity and how and if this would fit with the Sinister Six storyline.

Electro

Electro hovers in the air and crackles with yellow energy in Spider-Man No Way Home.

Jamie Foxx portrayed Electro in Andrew Garfield's The Amazing Spider-Man series. Like Alfred Molina, Foxx publicly acknowledged his reprisal as Electro for the upcoming MCU movie (he was the first villain confirmed). Of course, for Foxx, his character's return allows room for him to redeem his portrayal due to the initial criticism of the villain's lackluster arc and poor visual design in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Already, the Electro in No Way Home is promising as he displays a new look that differs from his previous blue fish-like features. Also, his costume appears upgraded and seems more comic accurate as it sports the familiar yellow spikes across his face. Therefore, there is only optimism with his return, and his appearance leaves speculations on how Electro would fit into the MCU.

Sandman

The Lizard, Electro, and Sandman's giant face made of sand line up to fight in Spider-Man in No Way Home

Sandman was another sympathetic villain from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies. He appeared as one of the three villains in Tobey Maguire's final film as Spider-Man in Spider-Man 3. As the person responsible for Uncle Ben's death, Sandman was remorseful of his actions. An accident resulted in his sand-like abilities, and Flint Marko became Sandman.

So far, Sandman has only appeared in his sand-like form in both trailers. It seems that Thomas Haden Church is also reprising his role as the villain. Furthermore, there is speculation about his character arc since Spider-Man 3 displayed Sandman as a misunderstood villain with a heartbreaking backstory. However, the trailer showcases him as a Spider-Man foe with malicious intentions. Nevertheless, Sandman is clearly returning in No Way Home and appears to be just as powerful and intimidating as ever.

The Lizard

The Lizard reaches for Spider-Man in the Amazing Spider-Man

The Lizard is the second villain from The Amazing Spider-Man series returning to the big screen. Dr. Curt Connors was a scientist who had an amputated arm. His research focused on regeneration using reptilian biology, although it eventually backfired and created the reptilian-like creature known as the Lizard.

Unlike many of the other confirmed villains, his appearance was not discernible in the first trailer. However, many fans had speculated that the monster behind Holland's Peter, separated between a glass door, resembled the Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man. Of course, fans' speculations were correct. The Lizard has a more visible appearance in the second trailer as he is seen leaping next to Sandman and Electro, confirming his return. Although it is unclear who is portraying the villain, Rhys Ifans is likely reprising him as he initially played the role in The Amazing Spider-Man.

Green Goblin

Green Goblin flies through smoke in Spider-Man No Way Home

The last confirmed villain in No Way Home is none other than the Green Goblin. Like Doc Ock, the Green Goblin established himself as one of Spider-Man's best villains. Norman Osborn, portrayed by Willem Dafoe, was the first character to adopt the persona and had a strong interest in pursuing Spider-Man. Unlike the other villains, the Green Goblin has been a reused villain in different universes. Also, Norman's son Harry Osborn took over the mantle and was portrayed by James Franco (in the Tobey Maguire version as The New Goblin) and Dane DeHaan (in the Andrew Garfield version).

It appears that out of the three versions of Green Goblin, the film will feature the original character, Norman Osborn, as he left a noticeable trail in the first trailer with his orange bomb. Of course, fans are excited to see the Green Goblin fighting Peter Parker in the second trailer with a more visible appearance, and it seems that he is donning his original green chrome suit from the Raimi films. It does appear that Dafoe will reprise his famous role as the Green Goblin as his recognizable voice is heard talking to Peter about the necessity of sacrifice in the young superhero's life, which only heightens the excitement for this film.
