The multiverse concept of Spider-Man: No Way Home has paved the way for the revival of the series starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. The duology ended abruptly after Spider-Man was introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the return of Jamie Foxx’s Electro has confirmed that this universe is back into view.
While Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man hasn’t officially been confirmed, the signs point toward a comeback for the actor in the role. Since it’s confirmed that it’s the same version that appeared with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, the big question is how he managed to come back to life. He was nowhere near a situation where a jump into the multiverse should have been possible, so No Way Home has a task to answer how Electro was brought back.
What Was The Outcome Of Spider-Man's Fight Against Rhino?
The ending of the duology saw The Amazing Spider-Man 2 leave on a memorable note, where the superhero tangled with Rhino. Although it was implied that Spider-Man would have defeated the villain, it would still be good for No Way Home to reveal how that fight ended.
It could be through a throwaway line that relays the existence of the Rhino to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, or as a flashback that recaps how Garfield’s Spider-Man arrived in the MCU. The fight would serve as a good way to bring newer fans up to speed on the previous Spider-Man’s adventures.
What Career Path Did Peter Ultimately Choose?
While the series wasn’t a big success, calling Andrew Garfield a failure is a wildly unpopular opinion about The Amazing Spider-Man films. Fans were invested in what happened in his life and wanted to see things like his work at the Daily Bugle and his studies to earn his doctorate.
Garfield’s Peter will be a man pushing 30 by this point and presumably a few years into his career. His potential appearance in the MCU will definitely have some kind of introduction for the Peter Parker persona and not just Spider-Man, so it’s essential that viewers learn where he ultimately landed in life.
Did The Lizard Go Free?
The MCU appears to be bringing back the villains from previous Spider-Man movies, as the Green Goblin is also returning alongside Doc Ock from the Sam Raimi trilogy. This leaves a distinct possibility that Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man’s antagonists could be making a reappearance.
The Lizard’s status was ambiguous by the end of the series, as the second movie didn’t make it clear if he was ever sentenced for life or if there was a chance for him to become monstrous once again. With a Curt Connors variant also present in Sam Raimi’s movies, No Way Home needs to confirm if Spider-Man’s foe is locked away for good.
What Is The Status Of The Green Goblin?
The majority of the fanbase has already made up their minds that the Green Goblin teased for No Way Home is the Norman Osborn variant from Sam Raimi’s trilogy. However, the Harry Osborn variant was also the Gobin who has a better chance of showing up because he presumably is still alive.
His last act was to suggest the creation of the Sinister Six, which would tie in very well with the multi-villain concept of No Way Home. Even if Harry has no part to play in the MCU, it should still be explained if Garfield’s Peter Parker had to contend with the Goblin’s antagonism.

No matter how much the movie borrows from the multiverse concept of the comics’ Spider-Verse, there needs to be a moment when the status of Garfield’s Spider-Man is relayed. He could very well have decided to move on with his life or continued as a superhero, but it’s all speculation as of now.
It wasn’t clear if his return as Spider-Man at the end of the second movie was a one-off, leaving the task up to No Way Home to clarify if Garfield’s Peter is indeed still in the role in his universe. With the slim chance that he doesn’t show in the movie, it would still be satisfying if characters from the multiverse appear without any indication as to the whereabouts of Garfield’s Spider-Man.
