Although the MCU has recently announced a large slate of movies and television shows that will formulate part of its fifth and sixth phases, one noticeable character that was omitted from that announcement was Spider-Man. While Spider-Man has been part of the MCU since 2016's Captain America: Civil War, after a landmark deal was struck between Disney and Sony over the use of the character, the character's movie rights are still owned by Sony, and thus, an announcement on the web-slinger's next movie will come from them.

After the monumental success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, producer Amy Pascal confirmed that another trilogy, starring Tom Holland, was in the works. Since then, fans haven't heard anything regarding a fourth Spider-Man movie in the MCU. Despite the lack of news, fans over on Reddit have been speculating about the villains they'd like to see face off against Holland's Spidey in his next movie.

Scorpion

Spider-Man Homecoming Scorpion

One of the most frequently cited villains that fans hope to see in the next Spider-Man movie is Mac Gargan, otherwise known as Scorpion. There are plenty of reasons to suspect that this character might make an appearance in a future Spider-Man movie. Scorpion was teased previously in Homecoming, where an unpowered Gargan, played by Better Call Saul star Michael Mando, appeared in prison with Adrian Toomes.

Redditor killer00x referenced how Scorpion would be a "...great addition for the next film, and it'll help pay off the teases made in Homecoming!" The MCU has a history of teasing characters that never come to pass, but here's hoping that fans will see Mando don the Scorpion costume at some point.

Black Cat

Spider-Man PS4 Black Cat bends twoards camera with a smile

Black Cat is another key character in Spider-Man's extensive gallery of colorful characters yet to make their live-action appearance. There clearly was some kind of plan to introduce the character in Sony's previous Spider-Man universe, where Felicity Jones appeared as Felicia Hardy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but that never happened.

Redditors, like wolfstarenthusiast, have been crying out for Black Cat to finally make her big screen debut in the next Spider-Man movie: "I NEED Black Cat into the MCU". Following Peter Parker's erased relationship with MJ at the conclusion of No Way Home, now could be the perfect time to introduce a new love interest for the character.

Prowler

Aaron Davis AKA Prowler from Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

The Prowler is another villain that the previous Spider-Man films have already teased, so it stands to reason that Marvel Studios may be planning to introduce the iconic villain. In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Aaron Davis/Prowler, played by Donald Glover, makes a brief cameo appearance as a low-level criminal. Davis also makes reference to his younger nephew in the scene, a clear reference to Miles Morales.

Reddiors were extremely keen on the idea of having Prowler as a villain for Spidey's next cinematic outing, particularly as it would be a perfect way to introduce Miles Morales' Spider-Man to the MCU. AUSTINDAVISTHEARTIST echoes many Redditors by stating that he hopes we get "The Prowler, at least at some point".

Hobgoblin

Spider-Man villain The Hobgoblin

The title of Hobgoblin is an alias used by many villains in Spider-Man's long comic book history. Most notably, the villain was originally revealed to be Ned Leeds, Peter Parker's best friend in the MCU timeline. Though it's unlikely that Jacob Batalon's Ned Leeds will don the Hobgoblin outfit in the MCU, another character certainly could.

Redditor gittinator feels like now "...it’d be the perfect time for Hobgoblin." While the Green Goblin has appeared in numerous Spider-Man movies, most recently in No Way Home, the Hobgoblin is yet to appear in any Spider-Man movies, leaving endless possibilities for interpretation and invention with the character.

Chameleon

Despite the fact that he is Spider-Man oldest foe from the comic books, Chameleon is yet to appear in any of the live-action Spider-Man movies. While his non-villainous alter ego Dimitri Smerdyakov did appear in Spider-Man: Far From Home as an associate of Nick Fury assigned to monitor Peter on his school tour, it's highly unlikely that this appearance was anything other than a name-drop reference for fans.

Chameleon was mentioned by numerous Redditors as a villain they'd like to see appear soon, either in the capacity of a main villain or a side villain. This view is expressed by SlashCinema25, who states: "I think you could throw chameleon in, maybe not as a main villain. But a side fight that leads into the main threat".

Kraven

Spider-Man's Kraven the Hunter looking ruthless in Marvel comics

It's often been noted that Kraven's Last Hunt, the infamous comic book storyline where Kraven defeats Spider-Man before donning the web-slinger's costume for a short while, is one of the best Spider-Man storylines and prime for a live-action adaptation.

Redditor YoloSantadaddy notes that "Kraven the Hunter would be a perfect villain following NWH...". Although most fans would love to see Kraven appear and fight Spider-Man, it's unlikely that this will happen in Spider-Man's next movie due to the fact that Sony already has a Kraven solo movie in the works starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Whether this version of the character could show up at a later point to take on Holland's Spider-Man alone, or with the Sinister Six, is not yet known.

Kingpin

Kingpin Wilson Fisk

One of Spider-Man's most iconic villains from the comics, TV shows, and even the most recent Spider-Man video game, The Kingpin has a long antagonistic relationship with Spider-Man. While he is most known today as Daredevil's primary foe, Kingpin did, in fact, first appear in The Amazing Spider-Man #50.

With the Kingpin's presence in the MCU now confirmed following his appearance in Hawkeye, and Daredevil star Vincent D'Onofrio back in the role, the door is firmly open for the paths of Spider-Man and Kingpin to cross. Redditor WeimSean hopes that we get Kingpin in the MCU, so fans can get "...a Daredevil + Spider-Man teamup against Kingpin". Following Matt Murdock's appearance in No Way Home, and an upcoming series on Disney+ titled Daredevil: Born Again, anything is possible.

Mr. Negative

One of the newest additions to Spider-Man's already stellar rogue's gallery, Mr. Negative gained widespread popularity following his appearance as one of the central villains of Insomniac's Spider-Man game.

Mr. Negative's impressive power set and compelling backstory make the character a popular choice among Redditors for a future Spider-Man villain. CETERAZz thinks that "Mister Negative would be cool" to see in live-action.

Venom

Despite post-credits teases in both Venom: Let There Be Carnage and No Way Home, Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Tom Hardy's Venom have yet to cross paths in the MCU. There is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the relationship between Sony's universe of Spider-Man characters and the central MCU, but that hasn't stopped fans hoping that Spider-Man and Venom will face off against each other on the big screen.

Venom was frequently mentioned by Redditors as one of their top choices of potential villains for a new Spidey movie. Skatenbikes would love to see Holland's Spidey "...being sucked into Eddie’s universe for a single movie as long as they bring him back to MCU". Knowing that a Spider-Man/Venom movie would be a massive cinematic event, there's little doubt that Sony is working to make that happen.

Silver Sable

Silver Sable confronts Spider-Man in Marvel's Spider-Man

Another fan-favorite character from the most recent Spider-Man video game, Silver Sable would make a perfect addition to the MCU's Spider-Man. Though not a traditional villain, Silver Sable often acts as an antagonistic force to Spider-Man's notoriously uncompromising moral compass.

HarioDinio was one of the many Redditors that mentioned Silver Sable as a possible character to appear opposite Spider-Man, "...not as a direct villain more like a force to butt heads with". Sony did have a Silver Sable and Black Cat movie in production at some point, though that project fell through, so it's very possible that the character could be ready to make her live-action debut soon, possibly in the next Spider-Man movie or even the upcoming Madame Web.
