The wait for Spider-Man: Miles Morales and the PlayStation 5 is nearly over, but fans can make these final moments of pre-launch anticipation easier thanks to the newly released soundtrack. Videogame soundtracks are an important aspect of player experience; even though at times music within a game is subtle, sometimes to the point that it is almost not registered, players would immediately become aware of its absence if it were to stop.

Fans of Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise have been getting plenty of additional updates and treats to keep them entertained in the run up to the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. From the announced trophy list and in-game screen shots to cinematic teaser trailers, Sony and Marvel have kept the upcoming title in the forefront of everyone’s minds. The gaming heavyweights have even teamed up with Adidas to release real-world sneakers, the same ones worn by Miles Morales himself in-game.

Now, fans can add yet another Spider-Man: Miles Morales element to their days. Ahead of the game’s launch, its official soundtrack has been released on Spotify. Featuring composer John Paesano’s melodic themes, the soundtrack will make the perfect background music for enthusiasts of the Spider-Verse. The playlist has a strong variety of tones throughout to match the emotional and physical journey of Miles Morales as he becomes the superhero New York City needs. With gentle and soothing harmonies intermixed with rousing and heroic musical scores, this album will convey every mood and tone fans can expect when they get their hands on the released game. In addition to the game's score, the soundtrack also features Jaden's Spider-Man anthem "I'm Ready," which has all the makings of a motivational theme tune to enhance even the most sluggish of days.

Music has an awesome power to set a mood even on a subconscious level. There is no doubt that navigating Miles Morales through the streets of New York as he chases down the mighty Rhino would be a lot more underwhelming if it were not set to John Paesano’s gutsy “Rhino Rampage.”

With only a day to go before the release of the PlayStation 5, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, fans can enjoy the soundtrack knowing that the next-generation of gaming will soon be here. Sony gamers may well be in for more surprises tomorrow on the actual launch day, much like Microsoft did yesterday with its Xbox Series X/S launch. Until then though, John Paesano’s “New York’s Only Spider-Man” will keep any lingering impatience at bay.
