The highly-anticipated Spider-Man: Miles Morales is now available to pre-order for both current and next-gen PlayStation consoles. Insomniac’s latest foray into the world of Marvel’s most iconic hero is set to be a major flagship exclusive for the PS5 when it launches on November 12th, providing early adopters with a first look at the power of Sony's new hardware in addition to more of the web-swinging action that made Marvel’s Spider-Man an instant classic on the PS4.
Set a full year after the events of the first game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will feature the titular teen continue the path he began when he was bitten by a genetically-altered spider and gained superhuman abilities not unlike those of one Peter Benjamin Parker. Having been mentored in the ways of crime-fighting since that fateful event, Miles is now ready to take up the mantle of Spider-Man to protect his new home of Harlem from a high-tech gang led by the Tinkerer, using his unique Venom Strike and camouflage abilities to find his own path as a hero.
Earlier today, PlayStation’s official website for Spider-Man: Miles Morales was updated with a new section revealing the pre-order information for the game on both the PS5 and PS4, including an image of the special bonuses that will be included. The biggest bonus revealed so far is a red, white, and black alternate costume called the T.R.A.C.K. Suit - which was designed by Miles Morales: Spider-Man artist Javier Garrón and grants Miles a special “Untrackable” Suit Mod. A second, as-of-yet-undisclosed suit, is also coming as a bonus, along with early access to the Gravity Well Gadget - which will allow players to “pull enemies together to knock them down and disarm them.” This last bonus is described as an early unlock, so players who don't pre-order can still expect to get ahold of one eventually.
As Sony previous revealed, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available for both the PS5 and PS4 when it launches in November, but the PS5 port will have several advantages over the current-gen version. Aside from performing better overall, the PS5 version will come with an exclusive remaster of 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man for players who purchase the game’s Ultimate Edition, which adds three new alternate costumes and some new features for the original’s much-beloved Photo Mode. Additionally, the digital download of Spider-Man: Miles Morales for PS5 will take up less hard drive space than the PS4 version thanks to the vastly improved file compression technology of the new system.
Whichever console fans choose to play Spider-Man: Miles Morales on, the game looks very promising, giving players more of the high-flying action and top-notch polish that made Marvel’s Spider-Man the highest-selling superhero game ever in the US. The pre-order bonuses look nice as well, with a striking alternate costume and a new gadget that will surely come in handy as Miles begins his battle against evil.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available on PS4 and PS5 on November 12th.
