A social media post by Insomniac Games appears to confirm that Peter Parker will play a role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Miles Morales and may even interact with the new Spider-Man as he fights crime in New York. The highly-anticipated game is a standalone expansion to Marvel's Spider-Man and is set to release on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in November. Fans already knew that this new game would focus on Miles Morales but this is the first time that there has been any mention of original the Spider-Man in the new release.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales was first announced during the PlayStation Showcase in July, with Sony confirming that the story will take place one year after the events of its predecessor. The titular character is still in his infancy as a crime fighter but will have to face off against a criminal group under the leadership of the Tinkerer. This alternate version of the web-slinging hero will also be able to use unique powers such as the Venom Sting electric attack and a cloaking ability.

An Instagram post from developer Insomniac Games seems to suggest that Spider-Man: Miles Morales won't just feature one Spider-Man hero. In fact, it seems like the original Peter Parker from Marvel's Spider-Man will show up at some point. The post contains a fictional report from the in-game newspaper The Daily Bugle, which indicates that two different versions of Spider-Man have been seen swinging around New York City. It even shows a photograph of Miles Morales seemingly talking to Peter Parker via some sort of communications device, indicating the two are aware of each other's existence.

Earlier in the month, Sony revealed that save data will carry over from the different versions of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. With the game being released simultaneously on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, the ability to transfer progress between the two versions is even more important. It means that players won't have to worry about losing their data and having to start all over again if they choose to upgrade. Meanwhile, the remastered version of Marvel's Spider-Man for PlayStation 5 will not offer the same functionality, as Sony has left this decision up to individual developers.

It was always likely that Peter Parker from Marvel's Spider-Man would show up at some point in Spider-Man: Miles Morales. After all, the first game proved to be a huge hit, and fans are already very attached to the character. The fact that the original is also being remastered will keep Peter Parker fresh in the minds of players as they come to play the follow-up. Hopefully, the appearance of the first Spider-Man will not be a brief cameo, as seeing Peter Parker and Miles Morales interact with each other could be a big deal.
