A glitch in Spider-Man: Miles Morales is letting the game’s hero go without the Spidey suit when exploring New York City and fighting baddies, but it breaks the game in the process. Miles has the option to change into quite a few different variations on the Spider-Man suit, including a popular version based on his look from Into the Spider-Verse. Going toe-to-toe with supervillains in a normal set of clothes wasn’t part of the plan, though.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been met with a very positive reception, with players considering it a worthy follow-up to Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PS4. That doesn’t mean that the game is entirely without problems, though. A previous glitch discovered in the game was even more bizarre than the one that’s now rendering Miles suitless, as players found themselves suddenly controlling inanimate objects like bricks, lamp posts, and trash cans.
Joining the previous glitch is a new one that would actually be welcome by some players if it didn’t make them unable to use Miles’ Spider-Man powers. As Screen Rant’s Ben Kendrick experienced, a glitch in Spider-Man: Miles Morales can take away Miles’ suit entirely, leaving him in his normal street clothes. Unfortunately, the glitch also removes all of his powers, meaning that players hit with the issue won’t be able to fight or web swing through the city. If players find themselves at the top of a building, like Kendrick did, that means they’re stuck there. Even worse, the glitch can’t be fixed by reloading a checkpoint or using fast travel, so players will have to reload a previous save to get back to normal.
That could be a major problem for players who haven’t saved in a while, but the truth is, it could be much worse. As can be expected with any console launch, the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are having their share of problems and the consequences can be much more serious than having to revert to an old save. Some players have had to factory reset their PS5s to clear download errors, while at least one person had their new console completely broken by a problem with the hard drive. Some games are causing more problems than others, but no one game can match how bad it is when it’s the console itself with the glitch.
Given how many bugs players are encountering in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, it’s likely only a matter of time before Insomniac Games issues a patch to squash at least some of them. In the meantime, players should remember to manually save every so often just in case anything goes wrong. It’s a habit that a lot of players have lost in the era of ubiquitous autosave, but it can be the difference between a glitch that results in a couple of cool screenshots and one that wipes hours of progress in a game.
