Insomniac Games has put several key characters from the upcoming Spider-Man: Miles Morales game into the spotlight, detailing their backgrounds. With the approaching release of the anticipated title, its developer continues revealing additional information regarding lore and story, setting the stage for a new adventure.

Marvel’s Spider-Man for PlayStation 4 revealed that Miles Morales had a set of powers similar to Peter Parker's. Since then, it seemed only a matter of time until the character would get his own game, and it indeed happened via the official announcement of Spider-Man: Miles Morales this June. While it is a proper standalone game, it serves as a spin-off to the original Spider-Man adventure by Insomniac. It likely suggests that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 should be a thing sometime, but nothing has been revealed so far as the studio is focused on the current project - as well as a remaster of the previous game.

Intended to familiarize players with some key characters of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Insomniac Games has shared a new issue of a fictional Daily Bugle Now magazine. First, there’s a bit of information regarding Miles himself, as he is delivered like a simple teenager with a passion to make music. Then, there’s Danika Hart, who hosts her very own podcast dedicated to New York’s duo of Spider-Men. In her popular show, Danika offers a reliable look at the heroes’ actions presenting them as true defenders of the city. Next comes Hailey Copper, a well-known street artist located in West Harlem. With this particular character, Insomniac seems to be taking steps to make the upcoming game even more inclusive as Hailey is described as having a "hearing disability" - though people like accessibility specialist Morgan Baker have pointed out that that terminology isn't favored by the Deaf community. Finally, Ganke Lee, a tech developer, is a talented kid mobile app developer.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales hosts a lot more characters and valuable NPCs for players to interact with. Just recently, fans have learned that Miles will have an adorable partner in fighting crime  in Spider-Cat. While the furry avenger won’t be a supernatural being, but rather a regular cat, it will nonetheless wear a tiny Spider-Cat mask to hide its secret identity. Miles will be able to carry the feline companion in a backpack so that the pet could pop out during cinematic combos scratching the living hell out of numerous enemies.

It’s quite reasonable that Insomniac is steadily revealing core information about the in-game world and characters of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. This way, the studio will ensure the development of empathy towards key heroes of the game, which in return will help to build strong bonds between players and characters they meet - before the game even releases. Additionally, it’s an indication that Insomniac has put a lot of effort into making Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ world a living and believable one.
