Sony Pictures Spider-Man franchise has suffered two setbacks as the studio has delayed the release of Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web. While Sony and Marvel Studios have partnered together on the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy, Sony has attempted to launch their own separate cinematic universe using such characters as Venom and Morbius. Two of the next entries in the franchise, Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web were both set for release in 2023.

It appears though the wait will be even longer as Variety reports Sony has delayed Kraven the Hunter by ten20months while Madame Web has been pushed back four months. Kraven the Hunter was originally set to open in theaters on January 13, 2023, but has been delayed to October 6, 2023, a date previously held by Madame Web. This has now forced Madame Web to move from its October 2023 release date to February 16, 2024.

Madame Web moved to a release date that was previously occupied by an untitled Marvel Studios film that has since been moved to September 6, 2024. Sony Pictures originally had the release date set aside for the Chris Pratt Garfield film, but with Marvel Studios moving out of the date, Sony Pictures moved Garfield to summer 2024, so Madame Web could take advantage of the February weekend that star Dakota Johnson's Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy found box office success with.
