Every good hero has their guy in the chair. For Batman, it’s Alfred; for Tony Stark, it’s Friday; for Thor, it’s…Heimdall? Who knows. For Peter Parker, as played by Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming, the guy in the chair is his best friend, Ned Leeds, played by Jacob Batalon.

Screen Rant had a chance to chat with Batalon at New York Comic Con at Sony’s awesome Spider-Man: Homecoming home video activation where they built Peter Parker’s apartment. While we got shut down trying to dig up Avengers: Infinity War info while hanging from the ceiling, we did talk about what it was like bringing Peter’s story back to high school and found out which Spidey villain Batalon would like to see Peter face-off with next.

Screen Rant: We obviously know we have Infinity War coming up, how much of a role does Ned play in young Peter’s life in Infinity War?

Jacob Batalon: I don’t know what to say about that.

You see how I tried to get you there?

Jacob Batalon: Yeah, yeah, you know it’s a cool thing to try, but you know I’ve been practicing this press thing for a couple months now. I’ve learned now to uh, I’ll just cut it right there.

I know you did extensive research when you got the roll. How much did you research Ned and also the character that’s kinda loosely based on Miles Morales’ buddy?

Jacob Batalon: Quite a lot actually, between both of those characters we kinda just came up with this one thing that everyone just loves now and I can not be happier with it.

Yeah it’s amazing. One thing that I really liked about Homecoming was actually being back in high school. I feel like we haven’t seen Peter like that in any cinematic kind of way. How was it doing that kind of stuff?

Jacob Batalon: It was really nostalgic. I loved high school, I would just play around all the time. I was by no means smart, by the way, those are all just words we have to say. Don’t ask me any science or math questions. I’m not smart at all. But it was still fun.

SR: In your fantasy world what villain would you like to see next for the next Spider-Man film?

Jacob Batalon: It would be interesting to see like Venom, but that’s just me though.

SR: Alright well hopefully we can because we now know its kind of–

Jacob Batalon: We’ll see what happens. I’m not gonna say nothing else.

SR: Well we know that the film is coming out on Blu-ray and DVD on October 17th. What special feature are you most excited about?

Jacob Batalon: I’m excited for people to see the extended scenes, the deleted scenes, the bloopers. Its gold; it’s hilarious.
