The MCU's Peter Parker and Matt Murdock aka. Daredevil team up in a new fan-made poster for Spider-Man: Homecoming 3. After regaining the rights in 2013, Marvel Studios officially brought Daredevil into the MCU two years later, as part of its Defenders mini-verse on Netflix. The character's fellow New York superhero Spider-Man followed suit a year after that, when Tom Holland made his debut as the young web-slinger in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. He's appeared in no less than four movies since then, including a pair of solo films, as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

Despite living in close proximity to one another, Spider-Man and Daredevil have yet to actually join forces in the MCU. It's no accident, either; Marvel's film and TV divisions have mostly operated independently of one another for the last few years, save for characters on the TV series occasionally name-dropping core members of the Avengers. But now that all five of the Marvel-Netflix series have been cancelled (Daredevil included), fans would no doubt love to see a proper team-up between New York's finest superheroes.

One such fan (Instagram user Erathrim) has even put together a fake Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 poster that brings the web-slinger and Daredevil together for a new adventure. You can check it out in the space below.

With Kevin Feige now overseeing Marvel's movie, television, and comic book divisions alike, the upcoming wave of Phase 4 MCU films and TV series will be much more integrated than they ever were back in Phases 1-3. And while that does open the door for Charlie Cox's Daredevil to finally cross paths with Holland's Spider-Man in Homecoming 3, it's still rather unlikely to happen. Due to their deal with Netflix, Marvel can't actually use Daredevil or any of the other Defenders until late 2020 at the earliest, e.g. two years after their shows were cancelled. As the third Spider-Man movie is slated to begin filming by summer 2020 for its July 2021 release date, that pretty much rules out the possibility of Daredevil having any kind of significant role to play.

More than that, Marvel Studios seems interested in leaving its Netflix TV "experiment" behind them, and keeping everyone's attention focused on its impending wave of Disney+ MCU series instead (beginning with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in 2020). The Marvel-Netflix union might've been - arguably - a failure overall, but it yielded some great television all the same, especially when it came to Cox's three season run as Daredevil. And if he never finds his way back to the MCU again, then at least fans can still come up with their own ideas and artwork about what their dream version of Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 would've looked like with him.
