Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 taps Black Panther production designer Hannah Beachler. While Marvel Studios' marketing is currently focused on Avengers: Infinity War, their movie production continues with a slew of forthcoming films in different stages of work. Peyton Reed is currently busy with Ant-Man And The Wasp in post-production (and upcoming reshoots), while the Brie Larson-starring Captain Marvel is busy with principal photography.
Next on the docket is the currently untitled Homecoming sequel, which will see the return of Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Story details are scarce at the moment, but it will be set following his dangerous stint with Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. Despite being a standalone, the follow-up flick will be pivotal to the future of the MCU, being the first movie out of their gates for the mysterious Phase 4. Shooting is expected to start this summer with location shoots around Europe.

Coming from Omega Underground is the news that Beachler is boarding Spider-Man: Homecoming 2. Considering reports that the aforementioned film will take Peter Parker to international spaces, Beachler's experience in thoughtfully bringing African designs to staged sets will definitely be of use. She joins Captain America: The First Avenger costume designer Anna Sheppard in the design team that will work on Holland's second outing as the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler. Daredevil cinematographer Matthew Lloyd and IT production designer Claude Pare are also part of the project. [UPDATE: Beachler has now taken to Twitter to say that she is not signed on for the Homecoming sequel at the moment and will be working on a different project next.]
A frequent collaborator of Coogler, having manned all of his three feature films so far - Fruitvale Station, Creed and Black Panther - Beachler is also the creative force behind Beyonce's iconic Lemonade visual album. Film-wise, her portfolio includes Don Cheadle's Miles Ahead and Academy Award Best Picture winner Moonlight. With a diverse roster of projects in her portfolio, it will be interesting to see what she'll bring to the table in the upcoming Jon Watts project. In the same sense, adding another high-profile comic book film to her resume will be great.
Beachler is the second design creative from Black Panther to board a Sony-produced project centering on their Spider-Man IP. Earlier this year, news broke that Ruth E. Carter will be the costume designer for the forthcoming Silver & Black film. Due to arrive next year with Gina Prince-Bythewood directing, not much is known about the team-up film, but it's reportedly going through script rewrites. Considering Carter's impressive portfolio, especially when it comes to dressing women regardless of setting, we have high hopes for the movie.
