Spider-Man swung into his first theatrical film appearance in 2002, and his franchise -- as well as the rest of the superhero world -- hasn't been the same since.

Over the past several years, this popular spider-bitten hero has received three separate film franchises as well as an alternative animated story that will soon turn into a franchise of its own. With that said, we're here to look at all of these films and see which have outscored the rest at the box office. To do this, we'll be using stats from Box Office Mojo.

It's time to jump into action; Here is how every modern Spider-Man movie stacks up based on their domestic box office scores.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

This computer-animated Spider-Man installment pulled in $190 million at the box office.

Into the Spider-Verse is definitely one of the most unique films in the franchise, being set in a multiverse and featuring a special animation style that looks like it could have come out of a comic book. This required 140 animators to work on the film (the largest number Sony had ever put to work on one movie) and boy, did it pay off.

The film received high praise for not only its art style but also its characters, story, voice talent, music, and quick-witted humor. This led the film to score the Best Animated Feature Oscar at the Academy Awards in 2019.

Though more details are yet to emerge, it's likely that Into The Spider-Verse will receive a sequel.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Andrew Garfield's second Spider-Man movie grossed $202 million at the domestic box office. This installment saw Peter Parker balancing his dating life with Gwen Stacy, played by Emma Stone, and his hero life out in the streets of New York. The stakes skyrocket when Electro emerges as Spider-Man's biggest enemy yet. Things only grow more complicated when Peter's old friend Harry returns with secrets of his own.

The film received mixed reviews, with many praising the solid cast but criticizing the weak, over-complicated narrative. Either way, though The Amazing Spider-Man series was set to get a third and fourth sequel, but this never came to fruition.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Of course, the second Amazing Spider-Man movie couldn't have come without a first. The first Andrew Garfield Spider-Man film took in $262 million at the domestic box office.

The Amazing Spider-Man, while filled with its own unique twists, mysteries, and humor, loosely followed the traditional Spider-Man story. In it, a teenage Peter Parker gets superpowers after a spider bite and must learn to utilize his new skills while balancing high school life. In this specific rendition, Garfield's Peter tries to sort out his parent's disappearance and his blossoming romance with Gwen Stacy.

The visuals, direction, and freshness of this film earned it generally favorable reviews and the aforementioned second movie.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

The third Spider-Man reboot scored itself $334 million at the domestic box office. This time, English actor Tom Holland fulfilled the titular role.

Spider-Man: Homecoming saw Peter Parker returning to his Aunt May after embarking on an adventure with the Avengers. He, too, tries to deal with his superhero and high school life, though his new skills are tested out on the vicious Vulture that threatens the city.

Homecoming received fabulous reviews, with many loving how lighthearted, fun, and exciting the film was. Though it held to its Marvel Cinematic Universe ties, the film grew into itself and was able to explore all sorts of fresh and funny plot points.

Spider-Man 3

The final Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movie pulled in $336 million at the box office.

Having seemingly figured out his complicated relationship with M.J. (played by Kirsten Dunst), Spider-Man is ready for life to go as smoothly as planned. However, everything he knows becomes threatened after Peter's Spider-Man suit begins taking control of him and turning his personality dark. The supervillains Sandman and Venom don't help the cause by posing new challenges of their own.

The 2007 film pulled in mostly positive reviews, with many enjoying the action and humor. However, many agreed that this film wasn't as good as the two that came before it and that at times, the plot was sluggish.

Spider-Man 2

Tobey Maguire's second Spider-Man movie came out with a $373 million box office score.

This film had Dr. Otto Octavius transforming into the cyborg Dr. Octopus after a failed experiment turns into a nuclear explosion. The doctor blames Spider-Man for the accident and sets out on a quest for revenge. Meanwhile, Peter Parker deals with other issues including M.J.'s quick engagement to someone who isn't him, his best friend's dislike of his alter ego, and his fading feelings of self-worth.

This installment recieved positive reviews with many loving the deeper emotions explored in this film and the complex villain. This and more earned it a handful of Academy Award nominations. Spider-Man 2 won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

Still in select theaters now, the second Tom Holland Spider-Man movie has already brought in $389 million. This film had Peter Parker's European vacation turning into a dangerous new mission after elemental creatures rip into the universe.

The film received much praise for creating all the action, romance, and excitement Spider-Man films have become known to produce. Many also believed it acted as a perfect wrap-up ending to Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Though this movie's sequel has been up in the air for some time, as of now, it seems that Tom Holland will be getting at least one more Spider-Man adventure in the MCU.

Topping off the list is none other than Sony's original Spider-Man movie. This 2002 film brought in $403 million at the domestic box office at the time of its release.

This film had Spider-Man learning to use his new powers to fight crime, and quickly, it became cemented as a favorite. The film received positive reviews for being both charming and action-packed and received two Academy Award nominations. Additionally, this film was cited as redefining the summer blockbuster and superhero movies in general. Congrats to you, Spidey.
