Spider-Man: Far From Home Clip Recruits Mysterio into The Avengers

Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) becomes a member of Nick Fury's new look Avengers in the latest clip from Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Mysterio becomes part of Nick Fury's new Avengers lineup in the latest clip from Spider-Man: Far From Home. The Marvel Cinematic Universe received some radical shakeups by the end of Avengers: Endgame, and instead of shying away from them, Spider-Man: Far From Home will heavily incorporate them. The movie will take place after everyone - including Spider-Man - was brought back from the dead, and sees Peter Parker (Tom Holland) still dealing with the death of the world's biggest hero and his mentor, Iron Man.

These two elements of the story may not even be the most significant ways that Spider-Man: Far From Home uses what Avengers: Endgame set up. The trailers have revealed that Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) is from a different Earth, and has traveled to the primary MCU reality because of the snap. Mysterio and Spider-Man are both recruited by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to fight The Elementals, and will be working together throughout the movie.

A new clip/trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home is filled with new details on Mysterio's past experiences with The Elementals, but also sees him recruited to be an Avenger. The audio from the new footage has Peter - who was knighted into the Avengers by Iron Man in Avengers: Infinity War - welcoming Mysterio to the Avengers. In a post-Avengers: Endgame world, Fury going back to his old ways and trying to form a new Avengers team is hardly surprising. While it appears Spider-Man is one of his first recruits, he also dismisses the idea of getting Thor, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel involved. Instead, he'll utilize the skills and knowledge that Mysterio possesses. He has most of this because, as the clip explains, Mysterio was part of a superteam that tried to fight The Elementals on his Earth. Unfortunately, they couldn't stop the creatures, and his Earth fell, only for Mysterio to follow them to this reality.

This footage further helps lay the groundwork for the Mysterio and Spider-Man relationship in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but fans may need to be wary of what Mysterio says. He's traditionally a villain in the pages of Marvel Comics, and a routine liar. Since he and The Elementals are the only ones we know are from his other Earth, many have and will continue to question whether or not Mysterio is from the multiverse. His past would indicate that he's hiding something, or has changed the story to better himself. With Spider-Man: Far From Home hitting theaters in just a few weeks and the first reactions imminent, it won't be long before we know what parts of Mysterio's story are genuine and how he does as an Avenger.
