Newly revealed concept art from Spider-Man: Far From Home shows Hydro-Man almost had not one, but two heads. Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) second solo outing in the MCU saw him travel to Europe with his classmates in the hopes of taking a proper vacation after the events of Avengers: Endgame. However, his carefully made plans ran into some issues in the form of several elemental monsters supposedly from another reality. In the comics, the Elementals are lesser-known characters, and fans were curious about the roles they would play in Far From Home. Of course, like many things in the MCU, they came with a twist.

In Far From Home, the information about the Elementals came from Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal), who claimed to be a refugee from a different reality hunting down the Elementals before they could destroy another world. However, comic book fans were quick to note even before the film came out that Beck is Mysterio, one of Spider-Man's most well-known villains. Sure enough, Far From Home revealed midway through its runtime that Beck was the true antagonist of the film, and that the Elementals were his creations.

The Elementals still provided some interesting visuals to the film, and now fans can get a closer look at one Elemental's evolution. Concept artist Jerad S. Marantz shared one of his initial designs for Hydro-Man. The most compelling part of his design is Hydro-Man's two heads, which Marantz said he came up with alongside the "idea of him being able to form from every angle, so instead of turning his head a Head could form wherever. Same thing with the arms." You can see the concept art in the space below.

Marantz's design looks sleeker than the version that ended up in the final film, which definitely didn't include multiple appendages. In fact, Marantz's idea feels reminiscent of the Silver Surfer, a Marvel character who will most definitely not be in Thor: Love and Thunder. It would've been interesting to see this version of Hydro-Man take on Spider-Man in Far From Home, but sadly it wasn't meant to be.

Holland's Spider-Man will next appear in his still-untitled third solo film, which was recently pushed from July 2021 to November of that same year. Based on where things left off in Far From Homefans are excited to see what will happen with him next. Holland previously hyped up the story for the MCU's Spider-Man 3saying it's "absolutely insane." Now that it's been pushed back, it might be a while before more information is made public. Until then, fans can guess which comic book villains will fill in for Mysterio and the Elementals in the next installment.
