The extended cut of Spider-Man: Far From Home is out in theaters, and it includes a number of additions. The second (and potentially final) solo Spider-Man movie to come out under the partnership between Sony and Marvel Studios, Spider-Man: Far From Home first launched in early July. Picking up after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the final film in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe took a smaller approach in continuing Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) story.
Following its release, Spider-Man: Far From Home became a mega-hit for Sony. The Jon Watts directed film received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The response has been incredibly positive, to the point where the movie recently became Sony's highest-grossing film of all-time. Even with over $1 billion earned worldwide though, Sony announced a re-release of the film domestically with four additional minutes. It is believed this was done to help push Spider-Man: Far From Home past the $400 million mark domestically. But what did it add in those four minutes?
As many suspected, the four new minutes of footage in the extended cut of Spider-Man: Far From Home brought Peter's to-do list sequence back into the movie. The sequence is made up of five quick scenes which starts with Peter telling Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) what his plans are for the night before the trip. He lays out his shopping list, last-minute pickups, and the final piece of crime-fighting he'll do before going abroad.
After a quick transition, Peter arrives at the post office to get his passport. Since he has a lot to do still, Peter can't afford to wait in the long line. He uses his Spider-Bot to switch the signage on one of the booths to being opened and goes straight to her to receive his passport. Next, Peter visits Mr. Delmar at Delmar's Deli-Grocery to acquire a dual headphone adapter so he and MJ (Zendaya) can watch movies together on their plane ride. With his passport and dual headphone adapter in hand, Peter then goes to a pawnshop to sell some of his action figures so he can buy MJ a necklace. Peter sells an assortment of toys including He-Man and Star Wars merchandise, but at the last second decides to keep his Lobot figure for himself.
The last piece of business Peter does is take down the Manfredi family. The movie shows him fighting members of the family in their restaurant. This sequence was glimpsed in the marketing, and is filled with Spider-Man flipping and quipping his way to victory. When the police arrive, Spider-Man informs them who his webbed-up enemies are so they can properly arrest them all. As shown in the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home, the new footage ends with Spider-Man telling the cops he's going on vacation, so they'll have to take care of New York on their own for a bit. Overall, this sequence isn't long but does give Spider-Man: Far From Home a bit more of Peter's life ahead of his trip.
There is also an extended sequence with Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) that was added to the cut. The new footage shows him getting the call from Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) about another "threat" popping up in Berlin. Mysterio is expecting this call though as he and his team just reactivated their machine to make Fury believe an Elemental attack was coming. This additional scene is dialogue-heavy, which may be why it was cut in the first place.
Even though these new scenes may not be the most surprising addition for the extended cut, they were at least added right into the movie itself - and not tacked on after the credits like the additional footage from Avengers: Endgame's re-release. With the added scenes set to be included in the home release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, maybe the extended cut will be included too, just in case fans want to continue watching the movie with this enjoyable new footage.
