The Spider-Man: Far From Home early reactions are here - see what critics are saying about Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures latest superhero movie. Ever since Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures struck a deal to welcome Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the wall-crawling hero has become a beloved character in the sprawling franchise. Tom Holland debuted as Peter Parker in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, before spinning out into his own solo movie, Jon Watts' Spider-Man: Homecoming, which hit theaters in 2017. After appearances in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Spidey returns this summer in a direct sequel to Homecoming and the MCU's final Phase 3 movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Far From Home will see Spider-Man grieving for Tony Stark aka. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), who served as his mentor in previous films. In Endgame, Tony Stark gave his life to save the universe. Now in Spidey's second solo movie, Peter will be called upon by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to take up Iron Man's mission of protecting the Earth by teaming up with Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) to defeat the Elementals. As another solo Spider-Man movie and the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Far From Home is one of this summer's most highly anticipated movies, and now critics are offering their initial reactions to the film.
Those who attended an early screening for Spider-Man: Far From Home are revealing their early reactions to the movie on social media. Check out the Spider-Man: Far From Home NON-SPOILER early reactions below.
#Spiderman #FarFromHome is SUCH a good movie! Jake Gyllenhaal suits up & completely embraces his role in its entirety & he’s clearly having a blast. This is such a refreshing film after the heaviness of #EndGame. The post-credit scenes are a MUST WATCH & will blow your dang mind! pic.twitter.com/wcTh9iHaYq— Maude Garrett (@maudegarrett) June 19, 2019
#SpiderManFarFromHome is funny, exciting, romantic, goofy & follows HOMECOMING in being this brilliant ground-level look at Spidey's world & how the events of #AvengersEndgame impacted everyday life. Lots of twists & turns, plus some adorable summer romances, too. I'm a big fan pic.twitter.com/NUX0f8YFM0— Erik Davis (@ErikDavis) June 19, 2019
#SpiderManFarFromHome is both a great follow up to Avengers: Endgame and a solid Spider-Man story in its own right. It's funnier and more visually adventurous than Homecoming, with another killer soundtrack. Make sure you avoid the hell out of spoilers!— Mike Cecchini (@wayoutstuff) June 19, 2019
#SpiderManFarFromHome is the coda we needed after Endgame, a glimpse of how the world looks now that the dust has settled. Could maybe have gone a bit harder on P's emotional arc, but bursting with warmth and humor and awkward teen romance. 💕 Also: Jake G = perfect casting.— Angie J. Han (@ajhan) June 19, 2019
#SpiderManFarFromHome had the difficult task of following two epic Avengers movies AND Spider-Verse and succeeds by telling a smaller, classical story about Peter Parker caught between what he wants and what responsibility demands. Pure cat(spider)nip for Spidey fans like me. pic.twitter.com/G2a4p6YhAr— Matt Singer (@mattsinger) June 19, 2019
absolutely loved #SpiderManFarFromHome. Captures the spirit of the comics and mixes in some amazing movie magic. The second the film ended I wanted to watch it again. #JakeGyllenhaal is fantastic as Mysterio. pic.twitter.com/4ZYaS0L8mf— Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) June 19, 2019
Spider-Man: Far from Home is an extremely fun, cleverly executed, and frequently hilarious culmination of the MCU’s wall-crawler’s journey so far. Some very sweet moments, sly commentary and deft action set-pieces throughout #SpiderManFarFromHome pic.twitter.com/5sAmxh4E3p— Jim Vejvoda (@JimVejvoda) June 19, 2019
Didn’t LOVE #SpiderManFarFromHome as much as Homecoming but it’s still a rad take on bearing the weight of great expectations and a fun ode to teen romance. Tom Holland continues to be amazing, Zendaya’s MJ is just as cool as Shuri and Jake G’s an inspired choice for Mysterio. pic.twitter.com/nnu7BPjcFO— Brian Truitt (@briantruitt) June 19, 2019
#FarFromHome non spoiler thoughts: most comic booky movie marvel has put out. Second and third acts are outstanding. The two post credit sequences are going to stick in my brain for a L O N G time. I cannot wait to see this movie at least three more times.— Preeti Chhibber (@runwithskizzers) June 19, 2019
FAR FROM HOME has dethroned Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 & is now favorite Spider-Man film.— Kevin McCarthy (@KevinMcCarthyTV) June 19, 2019
What’s insane is that I can’t even tell u why I’m so in love with this film because it would be a spoiler.
Gyllenhaal is incredible. Holland re-confirms as the best Spidey to date. Amazing. pic.twitter.com/pbynxYIEyQ
Overall, the Spider-Man: Far From Home early reactions are effusive with their praise for the MCU's second Spidey movie. Invariably, there are comparisons in tone to this spring's Avengers: Endgame, which was a bit more grim than Marvel films tend to be. Although we know Peter will be dealing with his grief for Tony, it seems Far From Home will balance that effectively with the lighter aspects of the story, like Peter's summer vacation with his friends and his relationship with MJ (Zendaya).
Another recurring theme of these reactions is the hype for Spider-Man: Far From Home's post credits scenes. The fact that the movie has two credits scenes should come as little surprise for Marvel fans, since that's become the standard format of most recent MCU movies - with a few exceptions. However, fans will have to wait until Far From Home hits theaters to find out what exactly these post-credits scenes reveal about Marvel's Spider-Man 3 since these reactions refrain from spoilers. Fans will no doubt have some fun speculating, though.
All in all, these Spider-Man: Far From Home early reactions are a good step forward in the movie's marketing push as it gets closer to hitting theaters. Next, full Spider-Man: Far From Home early reviews will hit sometime before the movie releases. Until then, fans can take heart that Marvel and Sony seem to have another hit on their hands with Spider-Man: Far From Home, which opens over the long Fourth of July holiday weekend.
