Spider-Man: Far From Home's unused promo image gives the film a much darker ending. Marvel Studios immediately followed Avengers: Endgame up with the Jon Watts and Tom Holland film, which served as an epilogue for the Infinity Saga. The film offered fans their first glimpse at the MCU after the Thanos (Josh Brolin) debacle and focused on Peter Parker dealing with the death of his mentor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).

In Far From Home, Peter temporarily checked out from his superhero gig, feeling unmotivated following Iron Man's demise at the end of Endgame. To get his mind off of the tragedy, he joined his peers on a European adventure, but what was supposed to be a stress-free trip became a new mission when he's recruited by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to team up with Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal). As fans of the comics knew, however, it's not the best idea to trust Mysterio.

Digital creator BossLogic shares his unused promotional art for Far From Home's 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, which was released in October 2019. The image features a lifeless Spider-Man trapped inside Mysterio's iconic fishbowl helmet, which visually doubles as a snow globe. The marketing image was supposed to reference the Christmas season, hence the snow globe, but it's ultimately scrapped as it's deemed too dark for the holiday season. Check it out below:

The image implies that Mysterio ultimately defeats Spider-Man. As seen in the background, there's a fallen Tower of London signage, which was the location of the pair's final confrontation. The artwork also references Mysterio's elaborate illusion at the end of Far From Home's second act, which mine inspiration from the comic books where the villain did a similar thing to the young hero. This promotional photo is admittedly one of the more creative ones from the film, and it would've been cool for it to be used.  That said, it's difficult to argue about its seasonal appropriateness. While Spider-Man ultimately defeated Mysterio, this image could spook out fans, especially the younger ones, as well as those who have yet to see the film.

Spider-Man may have successfully taken down Mysterio, but Spider-Man: Far From Home left him in a much more dangerous position after his secret identity was revealed in the movie's post-credits scene. While the general assumption is that Beck is dead, he's able to pull one more trick - recording a video that not only outed Peter as the friendly-neighborhood Spider-Man, but also framing him for his murder. It's unclear what comes next for the young hero following this, and it's safe to assume that it will stay that way for a while with the untitled Spider-Man 3 film not scheduled to hit theaters until late 2021.
