Spider-Man: Far From Home May Include Aunt May/Happy Hogan Romance

Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) and Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) could be romantically involved with each other in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Aside from directing the first two Iron Man movies, Jon Favreau has also been playing Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) long-time driver and friend since 2008. He's reprised the role three more times, with a fourth one coming in Avengers: Endgame. He's watched his boss and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) be hopelessly in love for quite some time, so it's nice to think he may have found someone he wants to be emotionally invested in.

Surprisingly, that person could be Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) Aunt May, who debuted in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming. So far, there hasn't been any contact between Aunt May and Happy but if a brand new report is to be believed, the pair will spend more time together in Far From Home.

According to Cine Pop (via Discussing Film), Far From Home will feature a romantic relationship between Happy and Aunt May. No further detail has been revealed as to how this will go down, but the newest trailer from the film shown at Comic-Con Experience 2018 in Brazil included a scene between the two seemingly flirting with each other - something that didn't go unnoticed by Peter.

Should this be the case, it'll be interesting how this changes the dynamic between Peter and Happy. Throughout Homecoming, Stark's trusted right-hand man had been dismissive of the young hero. He treated him more as an unwanted, additional responsibility while Peter eagerly tried to appease him. But since it was Peter who saved him from getting fired at his job when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) tried to hijack Stark's stealth airplane, Happy has since then warmed up to the Queens-native. That said, since fans don't yet know where in the MCU timeline Far From Home fits, it's uncertain when and how Happy and Aunt May even came to be.

Tying a veteran MCU character like Happy to Spider-Man's story through Aunt May could be an indication that the superhero is not leaving the franchise anytime soon, as it would be odd to bring them together and eventually pull them apart after just one film. It's still uncertain how Happy can be involved in Peter's life without Stark, and chances are that the answer lies in what ultimately goes down in Endgame. But if the popular theory about Stark dying in the Phase 3 capper comes to fruition, it's nice to have someone like Happy who's been with him for the longest time continue to be a part of Peter's journey as a hero in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Further, it's curious to see how this relationship compares to Peter's own as he develops a closer bond with Michelle Jones (Zendaya).
