Having been the heroic Scarlet Spider and even a full-on Spider-Man replacement in the Marvel Universe, Ben Reilly has gone dark once more after losing many of his memories which were copies of Peter's. As Chasm, Ben Reilly has been planning a significant revenge plot in Marvel's new Dark Web event, featuring some truly sinister team-ups in a bid to steal Spider-Man's very soul.
Manipulated and transformed by the Beyond Corporation, Ben believes that Peter is against him and is no longer willing to share his memories. While the two fought at the end of the Spider-Man Beyond storyline, Peter had no idea what happened to Ben after he fell into a pool of psychoactive goo. Now, Ben has become Chasm, seeking to fill the void in his soul by stealing Spider-Man's memories. He's also joined forces with Madelyne Pryor's Goblin Queen, unleashing a major demon invasion of New York in Marvel's Dark Web.
Now, the new preview for Amazing Spider-Man #15 from Zeb Wells and Ed McGuinness sees Spider-Man encountering Ben for the first time since their brawl at Beyond. While it's unclear how Peter will react to Ben Reilly's corrupted form and if he'll try to help Chasm recover, he might not get the chance. After all, Ben is already leading a horde of demons along with the confirmation that he's working with Eddie Brock's Venom. Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the upcoming issue:

Clearly, there's a valid concern that Ben may be too far gone. Having already spent time as the villainous Jackal and been redeemed in his shared past with Spider-Man, he might not get another second chance after this latest corruption. Likewise, the tie-in confirms that Venom has been reverted into his more monstrous self by Chasm and Madelyne, becoming their dangerous pawn as Dark Web continues. As such, Spider-Man is about to have a super busy Christmas season dealing with both Ben and Eddie.
Thankfully, it's already been teased that the X-Men will soon be arriving to provide Spider-Man with some much-needed backup. After all, they're not happy with Jean Grey's clone Madelyne with whom they'd had an ongoing truce. Regardless, Spider-Man vs Chasm is finally happening, though it's anyone's guess what the aftermath will yield for Ben Reilly as Dark Web continues.
