Warning! This post contains a PREVIEW for Dark Web #1

In a new preview for Marvel Comics' upcoming Dark Web crossover, clones and demons are taking over New York just in time to ruin Spider-Man's Christmas. With his clone Ben Reilly turning evil, Peter Parker will have his hands full now that Reilly also has an army of demons at his command thanks to Madelyne Pryor, the evil clone of Jean Grey. As such, it looks as though Spider-Man and the X-Men are going to have to put their holiday plans on hold.

Previously in the Marvel Universe, Spider-Man's clone was manipulated by the Beyond Corporation who sought to sponsor Ben as their officially trademarked Spider-Man while Peter was incapacitated in the hospital. However, Beyond's corruption of Ben's mind resulted in his corruption where he started seeing Peter as his enemy. Gaining a new suit and calling himself Chasm, Ben has since united with Madelyne Pryor, the clone of Jean Grey and current Queen of Limbo who also feels disenfranchised.

Now, the new preview for Dark Web #1 from Zeb Wells and Adam Kubert sees Chasm and Madeyne Pryor's Goblin Queen beginning the first phase of their plan during the Christmas season. Seen assembling their forces in Limbo with a chorus of chants and Pryor even playing an sinister-looking organ, things are about to get real weird, real fast. Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the upcoming issue:

Spider-Man's Chasm and the X-Men's Goblin Queen Have Joined Forces

  • DARK WEB #1
  • DUSK: ALL THE REAL BOYS AND GIRLS DUSK! The two most famous clones ever are back to take what’s theirs. Ben Reilly and Madelyne Pryor have had enough and are reigniting the INFERNO! Spider-Man and the X-Men are not ready for what’s coming, and what role does Venom have in all of this? The sun is setting, dusk is approaching, and it’s going to be a long night.

With the synopsis teasing Venom being thrown into the mix as well, it's clear that Spider-Man and the X-Men are in for a huge crossover of supernatural proportions, one that will finally reveal to Spider-Man what happened to Ben following their last confrontation at the Beyond Corporation. Having truly descended into darkness and focused on nothing else but vengeance, Chasm is seeking to steal Spider-Man very soul (not just his holiday cheer).

It's also going to be interesting to see how the X-Men will respond to the Goblin Queen and her army of demons given their uneasy truce after Magik made Pryor the new ruler of Limbo. At any rate, here's hoping Spider-Man and the X-Men will be able to save the day in time for Christmas. The full Dark Web #1 releases December 7th from Marvel Comics.
