New fan art visualizes what Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan could look like if he puts on the Scorpion suit in the MCU’s Spider-Man Homecoming 3. Originally set for release in summer 2021, the highly anticipated superhero movie is now scheduled to premiere in December 2021, after it was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. With Tom Holland returning as the titular character, Spider-man: Homecoming 3 will see Peter Parker face off with an unconfirmed central villain.

With very few details available about the upcoming Spider-Man movie, fans have been speculating on which villain Parker will clash with this time. Many have placed their bets on Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan, who was present in the post credits scene of the 2017 Spider-Man: Homecoming film. In the Marvel comics, Gargan is a detective in New York City who was hired by J. Jonah Jameson to investigate Peter Parker. Frustrated by Gargan’s failures, Jameson paid Gargan to be the subject of an experiment that caused the loss of Gargan's sanity and the birth of the supervillain Scorpion.

Though fans were given a sneak peak of Gargan in Spider-Man: Homecoming’s post credits scene, Mando has yet to suit up as Scorpion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On Instagram, Jackson Caspersz took on the task of imagining what Mando would look like in Scorpion's suit. Caspersz's depiction of Scorpion looks striking and impressive, complete with green armor and a long, sharp scorpion tail that stays true to the comics.

When audiences last saw Mac Gargan in the MCU, he came face to face with fellow villain Adrian Toomes, or the Vulture, in prison. With no sign of him in Spider-Man: Far From Home, it is unclear if Gargan escaped prison or if he will even be able to interact with Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming 3. Nevertheless, the 2017 movie made it clear that Gargan aimed to harm Spider-Man once he discovered his identity, and since Peter Parker was revealed to be the web-slinging superhero at the end of Far From Home, it is likely that Gargan will appear as an enemy of Spider-Man sooner rather than later.

More information about Spider-Man: Homecoming 3, rumored to be titled Spider-Man: Homesick, will hopefully be released shortly. While Mando’s Mac Gargan would be an exciting choice for the upcoming movie's antagonist, the appearance of other villains have also been theorized by fans. Other than Scorpion, Kraven the Hunter would also be an interesting choice, as would Venom, especially since it looks like Sony's Marvel films are part of the MCU. Regardless of whether or not Scorpion will be the central villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming 3, fans can be sure that the film will lay the groundwork for many villains in MCU’s Phase 4, including a possible introduction of MCU’s Sinister Six.
