Incredible new Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 fan art shows Tobey Maguire as Tom Holland's Uncle Ben. Although plot details for Spider-Man 3 are still largely unknown, Holland is set to return as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man. Spider-Man 3 was supposed to premiere next July, but the movie's release date has been moved back to December 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While Holland shot to fame playing Marvel's young, charmingly awkward version of Spidey, Maguire headlined Sam Raimi's 2000s Spider-Man trilogy. Maguire played the webslinger to perfection, where he captured Peter Parker's hectic double life throughout high school and college. Maguire's Peter Parker also had an extremely close relationship with Uncle Ben (Cliff Robertson) and saw him as a father figure; as such, Uncle Ben's death later became an important touchpoint of Spider-Man's character development.

Digital artist apexform envisions Maguire as Uncle Ben in a stunning new piece of fan art. Apexform splits the Instagram post into two panels; the one on top shows Maguire in a ripped Spidey suit, asking Holland's Peter Parker if he's okay. Below that, the bottom panel also shows Holland in his Spider-Man costume, looking back at Maguire and asking, "Uncle Ben?" You can catch this cool exchange below:

Back in 2017, Holland joked that he'd love to see Maguire as Uncle Ben. Although there's been no official word on whether Maguire will make an appearance as Uncle Ben, that doesn't mean that the actor will never join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. More specifically, there's been intense speculation that both Maguire and Andrew Garfield—who played Spidey in Sony's 2012 reboot of the Spider-Man series—may appear in Spider-Man 3. However, considering a Sony representative debunked these casting rumors earlier this week, fans should take any casting rumors with a grain of salt. Still, while it doesn't appear that Maguire and Garfield will be joining Spider-Man 3, there's always the possibility that one—or both!—could make an appearance in future Spidey or MCU films.

Uncle Ben has yet to play a significant role in Holland's Spider-Man films. Although Ben has been mentioned here and there, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has stepped in to fill the role of Peter Parker's father figure instead. That being said, fans were able to follow Peter and Tony's relationship throughout multiple films, which meant the latter's death cast a long shadow over Far From Home. As a result, it's unclear if introducing an Uncle Ben storyline in Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 would be as impactful. Regardless, though, it's still fun to imagine what Maguire would be like as Uncle Ben, even if it would be strange to see him out of his red and blue Spidey suit.
