Spider-Man 3 gets another Seinfeld-themed working title. The movie will re-team Tom Holland and director Jon Watts for a third time following their previous works in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming and last year's Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The road to Spider-Man 3 has been bumpy to say the least with the brief separation between Disney/Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment last year. At one point, Holland's web-slinging hero was going to be pulled out from the MCU and isolated in Sony's budding superhero franchise with Venom and Morbius. That would've left a string of unfulfilled subplots previously set up in the MCU, including the game-changing revelation of the hero's real identity. Luckily, the rift between the studios were eventually patched, meaning that whatever was set up in Far From Home will play in Peter Parker's next standalone film.

With all the behind-the-scenes woes now behind them, production for the third Spider-Man installment in the MCU is officially a go. Production is set to begin this summer with a release date of July next year. Given that, the threequel gets an official working title and like its predecessors, it has something to do with the classic sitcom Seinfeld. Production Weekly has revealed that the untitled Spider-Man 3 has the working title "Serenity Now."

Spider-Man Far From Home Mid Credits Scene

For context, Homecoming had the working title "Summer of George," which was an actual episode title from Seinfeld. Far From Home continued this trend with "Fall of George," and although it's not directly connected to the popular sitcom. "Serenity Now," on the other hand, is not only an outing title from season 9, it's also phrase that was very prominent in said episode. It's a phrase Frank Constanza learned from a self-help recording that's supposedly going to help center himself. Ironically, it wasn't much of a help since he'd hilariously shout what was intended to be a calming mantra especially when arguing with Estelle. As George's nemesis, Lloyd Braun explained, the technique was simply ineffective having spent sometime inside a mental institution. Instead, surprising ones' anger only makes it worse calling it "serenity now, insanity later."

Aside from its connection to Seinfeld, Spider-Man 3's working title could also be indicative of what to expect in the film. Plot specifics for the project are still tightly under wraps, with no confirmed villain yet. However, it's not difficult to imagine where Watts is going with this considering what was set up in Far From Home. As explained, the term "serenity now" is a phrase believed to have calming effects when uttered. Peter was undoubtedly in a panicked state the last time fans saw him, and understandably so given that not only was his real identity broadcasted, he's also being framed for murder. Using the mantra could help him settle down. The problem is, it doesn't work, and the threequel might see the young hero desperately trying to regain control of the situation only for it to possibly get worse.
